Are the T3 Hunter Stainless rifles not imported? In a search on the www. it appears several times that they weren't/aren't imported? I suppose if it's true, I'll have to continue my search. I really wanted a Tikka, then saw that wood and stainless and had my heart set on it.

All Tikka's are made in Finland. Some models are not imported into this country. It is because of marketing trends. Research has shown that certian models and chamberings sell better in some countries than others. While Tikka may make certain versions of their rifle they don't waste their time importing them into places where there may only be a handful of people who want them. I understand that you may really want a certain version of the rifle. But Tikka cannot sell enough to you and 2-3 others to justify importing that version here.
The same is true in other countries. I'm sure certain versions commonly sold here are not sold in other countries.
Buy a stainless/ synthetic stocked rifle. Get on various gun forums offering to trade your synthetic stock for someone else's wood stock. It may take a little while, but I bet you find a taker. B&C is now offering aftermarket stocks. You may well find someone who has bought an aftermarket stock that will sell their old stock also.

I have a T3 Hunter stainless with a walnut stock in 270 Winchester. It was purchased in 2006, so they used to import them at the very least. Scheel's is a sporting goods chain in some of the Midwest and Western states that stocks a ton of Tikka's. I am positive that they had some stainless hunters last time I was in there. If you can't find on in your area, you may be able to have them ship one to your local gun shop.
I love the gun and the stainless/walnut look. One little tip, either the stainless steel or the metal finishing technique that Tikka uses makes the gun somewhat prone to rusting (more so than other stainless guns I have). My advice is even though it is a stainless steel rifle it should be treated like a blued carbon steel gun. Wipe it down with an oily rag after using or getting wet and you will be fine.

I think I misunderstood you jmr40....I thought you meant that Tikka imported all of the models they made into the US. I understand what you're saying now, and I understand and agree completely. I just wanted to make sure it wasn't imported before I gave up and went on to a different model.
I thought about doing to synthetic version and trading around, but there are too many other appealing rifles to me, to go through that trouble lol

The stainless T3 I had was rusted right out of the factory box. The factory supplied rings are worthless and the rifle shot like cr@p. About the only good thing I can say is that the trigger is decent for a factory job.
The recoil lug set up is cheesy, just a loose fitting "key" that fits into the lug recess. With harder recoiling rounds it will become a problem as people are finding out.

The problem is Beretta. Beretta is...well Beretta. A bit arrogant. They know what we want/need. Spare parts, never.

Rings have been fine on my rifle and it shoots great. By in large, every report I have heard have said the same of Tikka rifles. I haven't heard about the recoil lug being a problem before. I will have to take a look at mine. Certainly seems like an easy fix to replace it with a tighter fitting lug made out of steel.

SS will rust, It does have Carbon in it so it will rust more so when in a wood stock if not lubed . Then some woods may break down a bit. aauurrgg
Easy fix, If you want SS for the all weather durablity then buy there composite stock they offer too. maynot be as pretty but 20 years down the road used buy a real hunter it will not be looking ugly.

I had been looking for a Sako but you have to order those special, so I thought I would look for a Tikka stainless in 6.5X55, however, the entire state of North Carolina seems to be out of stock.
