Tikka T1x Rimfire

It might be a good idea to wait for the first field reports and reviews to emerge before speculating one way or the other. The only things I'd be willing to bet on are a heavy duty action and a good if not excellent barrel. This is based on the existence of Sako Quad and Tikka models often being (loosely) based on corresponding Sakos, at a lower price point. How everything turns out and how it'll translate to practise remains to be seen.

Thanks to those of you that are Guinea pigging this for us. I doubt seriously Tikka will disappoint. It really has to be all uphill after the appearance.

I was deciding between an Annie 1416 and a Sako Quad varmint for a quality bolt action for a new can I have coming. I really want a nice wood stocked 22 around the 1k to 1200 mark. Is the Sako varmint still being produced and imported, I seen that eurooptic still has some. Also to the above post, Tikka would be more in line with CZ at that price point as far as the Quad varmint?

I'm not that concerned about a <$500 .22lr wowing me with it's looks as long as it shoots well, and I really don't care to have a dead tree bolted onto any of my rifle actions from here on out... I must be the target market for this Tikka. Also, I don't think the magazine protrudes that much given that it holds 10 rds. I like my CZ 455, but the (non-flush fitting) 5 rd mag is one of my least favorite features. Give me 10 and I won't complain about the mag protruding .75 inches from the stock.

Same problem with JW-23 (CZ clone in .22WMR), the 5-rounder sticks out more than an inch. I hate it. If it was a 10rd mag I wouldn't complain at all and even a flush-fitting 3rd mag would be ok. At least the higher capacity gives some "scout rifle" -kind of functionality unless a five-rounder will be offered later as an accessory or - this is wishful speculation - Sako Quad magazines happen to fit.

I've been thinking about getting a CZ rimfire this year, but Tikka may get my money if the bolt is as buttery smooth as their centerfire's!

I just had the CZ 452 American I bought last year cut and threaded at 16", but if Tikka had come out with this last year and with a nice wood stock I would have definitely considered it.

Not as informative as the other video, but this one is definately good marketing:

I didn't realize before that they were using the same stock as the T3x, that's a pretty neat feature if you're already familiar with their centerfires.

I like everything I have heard about it. Sounds like it will be very good competition for the CZ 455. I already have a match winning CZ and a 540XR, but I will keep an eye on this one. Looking forward to range reports.

22lr and 17hmr doesn’t make sense.

Why? Those are easily the two most popular Rimfire chamberings around here. I think .22 mag popularity really fell off when you couldn't find any of it on the shelves for a few years during the great ammo drought. Plus .22lr and .17 HMR are both known for great accuracy potential with the right ammo in the right gun, if I was Tikka, I'd definitely lead with those two chamberings.

I need another .22 rifle like a hole in the head, but will look at them when available in stores and see how they fare in magazine testing. No rush.

Just got an update! Can’t wait!!

Good afternoon everyone!

We have just received an update on the expected delivery on the T1x’s. Unfortunately, they have been delayed “about a month.” The ATF held up the approval for the import permits for several weeks. The permits have now been issued and the inventory is inbound from Finland. It seems this was out of both Tikka and our control. I know many of you are very anxious to receive them, as we are to get them shipped out to you. Please know we will begin shipping the very day they hit our receiving dock. The new estimated ETA will be the end of May, beginning of June. I apologize for the delay
