In anybodies experience does the tikka t3 lite (.308) recoil a lot harder than the varmint version? If so, how much? Also, how much does a limbsaver reduce the recoil on it, using other rifles for comparison would be nice. Thanks!

I have the Limbsaver on my T-3 in 30-06. Recoil is not an issue, especially since going to the Limbsaver. I cannot imagine the 308 would be a problem.

thanks, i'm looking very seriously into getting a t3. this was one of the determining factors, unless something better pops up i'll probably get the t3

I have my T3 Tactical up for sale in the classifieds, NIB. It's heavy enough that I don't think you would need a recoil pad on it. But if you want a T3 as a hunting rig, doing some day long walks in the woods/mountains, it may be a bit heavy for that.

i've been looking at those too, what kind of groups do you shoot on average at 100y? How much is it currently? im to young to purchase a rifle myself yet but i'm curious as to how much the used ones are

I'm selling mine for $1225 NIB, shipped. I only found once source who sells the 24" barrel version of the Tactical and they sell it for $1500. You see a couple of the 20" versions going for around $1300. I have not seen any used Tactical models hitting the market so maybe subscribe to as many gun forums you can and post a WTB ad for a Tikka T3 Tactical.

I haven't shot mine but from my research on another forum, sniperhide.com, people rave about Tikka rifle and the T3 Tactical has some great reviews from folks who own them. You can do a search on there without being a member.

I just didn't find any convenient places to do long range shooting where I live hence why I'm selling it.

thanks for the info, it definantly looks like a nice rifle, only a bit out of my price range :(

I don't have a Tikka (yet), but I've heard they are easily MOA accurate out of the box. Tikkas and Savages seem to be the best values in a bolt action these days, and I've yet to read anything negative about the T3 line, especially in regard to accuracy.

Just save a little bit more each week/ paycheck and you'll be there before you know it. If you drink or go out a lot or [insert other money-consuming activities here], try to cut back a little bit for a while and put the money you've saved in a jar. DON'T DIP INTO THE JAR FOR ANY REASON. Eat Ramen noodles if you must, but save your money so you can blow it all on that rifle the first chance you get. Some may call my sanity into question for this, but I can't even count how many times I've had to make it for a week on less than $100 because I bought a new gun or guitar. My rule is to make sure the bills are paid and I have gas money - everything else is "disposable." Saving is the name of the game, brother.

I wish I had a paycheck lmao, i'm only 13, thats why i asked about recoil. My dad buys my rifle, i do all the research to find the best rifle/caliber/scope. We can afford the normal version, just not the tactical version :(

Trust me, it's better to have daddy paying for your toys than to have to earn them yourself toiling away in the salt mines! Well, you'll find out soon enough! ;)

Don't worry about being unable to afford the tactical version. As sernv99 says, it is really too heavy for a hunting rifle. See generally this article.

Man aint that the truth... you know how much salt you have to mine for a descent rig? :what:

I'd get the Savage, but there is nothing wrong with the T3, also reid73 and servn99 are quite rite, the tactical stick is waaaay too heavy for a huntin' rifle.

Make sure you thank your Dad! :D
