I have a dandy bolt action Tikka T3x in 270. This is a long action. I am thinking about having it rebarreled to 6mm Remington. Tikka has a 6.5 Creed mag with what I think would be the perfect length spacer, or I could do the aftermarket short action mag.
My question is would I need to switch to the short action bolt stop or would the long action bolt stop be better. If anyone has experience let me know.
Thanks

Tikka only makes long actions. There is a spacer block in the short action magazines. I'm not sure about the bolt stop, I currently only have short action cartridges in my Tikka's and don't recall what the difference is. At any rate it should be a relatively easy conversion.

Do you handload? Is this a prefit barrel? The 6mm Rem. is a long cartridge for a short action. If it was me I'd have it throated so the bullets could be seated that the base was even with the bottom of the neck. You could use the bolt stop and magazine you have,With carefull reloading you could gain some performance.
