Are there short length of pull or adjustable length of pull stocks available that will fit a long action in any of the following rifles?

Browning X-Bolt
Remington 700 SPS
Tikka T3x
Sako 85
Sako A7
Vanguard Weatherguard
Winchester 70

I can't find what I'm looking for in a factory offering (.25-06 with a shorter length of pull).

Thanks.

I'd have to admit, I can't really see choosing what gun you want simply by where the factory started with the length of the buttstock. That's about the most easily altered facet of the gun.

I know McMillan and other stock makers will want to know exactly the length-of-pull you want and that's what they'll make.

I'm not choosing the rifle simply by where the factory started with the length of the buttstock. The above list was generated using other factors (quality expectation, availability of .25-06, availability of stainless or cerakote, preference for a 24" barrel). Now I'm trying to figure out my options to get the correct length of pull. So far, the suggestions are to either take a hacksaw to the factory stock or buy a custom stock. Anything in between the bubba route and high-dollar?

If done properly, it's not "Bubba-ing". It's a common thing for custom stockmakers. A miter box and a very-fine-toothed saw, when jigged properly, allows a quality job.
Thanks, Art. I was thinking about it as if I were going to cut the stock, which would not be a good plan. So does it work just as well on a synthetic stock as wood? Many of the stainless rifles come with synthetic stocks.

Any reasonably good gunsmith can shorten a stock in a professional way and fit a well-shaped recoil pad if that isn't your favorite sort of weekend chore. :)

Synthetic stocks can indeed make this more tricky as they are sometimes hollow. Still, a gunsmith works with that kind of issue all the time and will know exactly how to make it right.

Thanks. Now I understand your earlier post. Sounds like LOP is something a couple hundred bucks can fix, or I can go with a custom stock like McMillan.

"...rather not take a hacksaw to a rifle..." Isn't a hack saw you'd use. It's a mitre saw or box, same as you would to install a recoil pad.
For a synthetic it depends on the stock. Not all of 'em are solid, but if you can put a recoil pad on you can adjust the LOP. Easier to do than describe.
Boyd's stocks come with whatever LOP you want from 12.75" to 14.75". Additional $24.95 though.
Adjustable length of pull stocks are high priced things. A McMillan A-5 starts at about $390.
Kind of suspect most of the issue is the chambering. A Rem M700 SPS, for example, doesn't come in .25-06 and has a synthetic stock. LOP is 13.375". Any of the assorted Youth models suitable?

Thanks for the input. I really want the .25-06 for a number of reasons. I handload so the fact that it performs well with the same powders I already use in my .300WM is very nice. If brass is ever in short supply, I can also form the brass from the mountain of .30-06 brass that I already have. I should be able load accurate mild recoil target loads for my daughter as well as good whitetail loads. Finally, the chambering has sentimental value.

To answer your question directly, no. Every non-custom short LOP stock I've seen is sized exclusively for short action calibers.

One "outside the box" option for synthetic stocks, depending on your recoil tolerance, is to remove the recoil pad and replace it with a piece of kydex; that may shave up to an inch off the LOP. You said this is for your daughter, so the 25-06 might be obnoxious without a recoil pad depending on rifle weight and cartridge loading.

If you go with the Weatherby, their "range certified" stocks are made by Bell and Carlson, and run about $250+ IIRC. If you can talk to a shop (online or brick and mortar) that carries B&C, they can order stocks with a custom LOP from B&C.
