The Confederacy losing is :) not :(

? Doesn't Freedom of association include the Freedom to not associate?

I'm still not decided if the outcome of that kerfuffle is a bad or a good. (For the country, that is. Ending slavery is a good.)

But, Good for Wyoming. Lovely state.

If I remember correctly, SC passed a law a few years back basically stating that any attempt to "infringe" into the 2nd Amendment (infringe being open to interpretation) would basically be opposition to their state Constitution and allow it to make another go at that whole secession business. Keep in mind that 1860 was actually the 2nd time they made a go at that. They kind of have a history with it.

Regarding the Supremacy Clause and the enforceability of Federal law over state law. The Supremes ruled back in the 1870's in a very common sense fashion- the case dealt with issues relating to the Civil War and basically indicated that the Supremacy Clause is only enforceable so long as the Federal government still reigns supreme; had the Federal government lost the Civil War then the Supremacy Clause no longer remains in effect unless the individual state allows it as Federal jurisdiction would not extend to that state. I know its very common sense, but it does touch upon the Montana and Wyoming issues.

As for Wyoming- glad to see someones starting to get the ball rolling. Personally, I think the states better take the lead on this whole issue before things get truly out of hand.
