I was at my local firearms shop the other day talking to Danny Mooney (The owner) and I couldn't help but look at the Glocks he had,I had my grubby mitts on a full sized Glock 17,and was checking it out, looked at the price and everything, then asked if he had the 45.ACP model 21,he said that he had a few ordered and I was torn....

Should I get the 21 or the 17?

9mm or 45.?

I've looked at the specs for them at the Glock website, looked at the Cap's on both Mags but I'm still torn over these two calibers and models, but I was left with a few more questions.

How accurate are they?

How dependable are the two models?

Thanks in advance.

P.S. My Smith Model 12 is going to be sent in to have timeing work done and customized,it will live out the rest of it's days as a safe queen.

Get both! :D You cannot go wrong with a G machine.

How accurate are they?

How accurate are you?

How dependable are the two models?

Undisputable.

Pictured here a 2nd gen G17 and SA 1911. Yes, the G17 works right out of the box, while the 1911 needs to be sent to factory after 400 rounds NIB. :neener:

the HKs don't wanna hang out with the 1911s :neener: for some reason they repel each other, HK's coming in while the other going out

Hold a 21 before you decide on it, the 21 is larger and doesn't feel good to alot of folks. I love the grip of the 17, but the 21 is just a little too big for my mits. Of all the Glocks, the 17 has probably had the absolute fewest problems, complaints or jams. But they are both Glocks, so dependbility is way up there.

Nice thing about the 21 is that the recoil is less than I expected. I don't have particularly large hands but the 21 is a manageable handful. I just wish it was a gen 3 instead of a gen 2.

I would get the G17. The G21's grip is too large and blocky for many people. Also the G21 has had some reliability problems in use by LAPD. Glock diagnosed a problem with the trigger bar and a fix is in the works with their department's G21s, but in general, the 9mm Glocks have an unblemished reputation for very high reliability and the .40 and .45 Glocks have had their share of problems.
