I was reading Times and Newsweek, sometimes I ask myself why I bother.

The word "anti-intellectual" was used from my count, 6 times in the total of 20 articles I read in both magazines; when referring to GW Bush.

There was a quote in there from someone that said "I trust Bush with my daughter, but Clinton with the economy". :barf: The fact that Clinton is portrayed (what I believe to be accurately) a pediphile and a skirt chaser doesn't seem to bother all these people.

Also, on page 28 of this month's edition, (I odn't remember, Times or Newsweek) there is an article on about the rising _GUN_ crime of England. The article in so far as I can tell, concluded that the blacks and inner city rap music is to blame. The fact that there is a sharp rise in gun related crimes because nobody can defend themselves anymore was not mentioned. The fact that despite the harsh gun laws, crime (gun related crime!!) keeps going up, not a peep.

:fire: :cuss: :banghead:

Funny, here in Finland the largest newspaper did a story about the infamous picture with Bush and the binoculars  The story corrected the belief that he was so stupid that he did not even realise that the covers were still on, and that infact the binocular was a light amplifier :D

Technically, the idea that blacks are responsible for the rise in crime isn't totally wrong. The Jamaican gangs, Yardies, I think, have been growing and becoming more active and violent in the last few years. However, to say that blacks and rap music are the sole cause is, obviously, ludicrous. Of course, this has nothing to do with British gun legislation because these people are what we refer to as criminals and they don't obey those silly laws anyway.

The only time I read those rags is in the Dr.s office. My Cardiologist even has hunting mags. I get my news from cable (Fox) but that`s not the perfect venue either. Still, I don`t have to recycle cable. :D

In fact, between guys like Drizzt and others who seem to be the mavens of relevant news, who needs another source?:)

Time-Newsweek...

News for the Sheep.

They do know how to coin a phrase, don't they now?

Of course its the poor oppressed minority, coupled with legislation passed by our elected little piggies in response to "Keeping the children and our streets safe"; but don't even think about discussions concerning controlling the sheep.

Here, there, everywhere. (Gun) Crime has nothing to do with respect of self and others, nothing to do with working your butt off everyday to pay the bills, trying to save something, and raising your kids to be a proper parent?

What's that about? Who wants to do that? Sounds like a lot of hard work to me.

I find it a sad state of affairs when the kids of today look up at and emulate their "Anti-Hero's" (read outlaws) who have scads of cash, drugs, wear their pants down past their butt, rhyme foul language and (my favorite part) who like to hold their "gats" sideways whilst posing or shooting... tooooo (was that too many o's?) cool.

GW Bush an "anti-intellectual"? OK. Their point being what? He ain't no Rhodes Scholar? Just another American Royal Family member who sqeaked by in 2000, thanks to the rural Americans who still have a sense of self.

Time Newsweek? Good for the keeping in the restroom, in case you run out of Charmin.:D

Adios

Dont read either of those commie rags, but whenever I see those poor excuses of [ahem] 'Journalism', I try to hide them behind "Shooting Times, Guns-N-Ammo" etc.

Just like I always hid Rosie's & Oprah's liberal tomes behind "Combat Handguns"

 :neener:

The fact that they make no attempt to hide their bias, is what sickens me. They don't even PRETEND anymore that they do unbiased reporting..

Their "heros" are Clinton, who was Impeached, and Al Robot Gore. They love big government, wish it was bigger, they are always doing things "for our own good" because they "know better". They keep wondering why we keep talking about "big brother" when they want to invade every aspect of my life to protect me from myself.

Times and Newsweek, the only information you need to know; on what you really don't need to know.

Here in Taiwan, you can only imagine the questions I have to field after people here read those rags.

I agree with what the Taiwanese people say about George Bush; he might be stupid, but he was stupid enough to become the most powerful person in the world!! If that's stupid, I should take lessons!

Nothing wrong with being anti-intellectual.

An intellectual is someone who has been educated beyond their capacity.

Bush... or Clinton?

Salpalinja -

I may may be mistaken, but wasn't Clinton the one that was involved with the binocular story?

Alex

Nando Aqui, you are quite correct about the observation concerning comrade Klinton.

Remember folks that you have wallets, voices, and votes. Boycott those who are against your rights and send them a written letter. Letters have a little more weight because it takes some time and effort to produce and send them. Let your opinion be heard as well as your money. Vote for those who protect your rights and work fo rthem. Give pro 2nd candidates your time and money and encourage others to do so.

Time and Newsweek are leftist publications. Don't buy them or read them. Encourage as many others as you can to do the same. If we as supporters of the 2nd amendment stick together we shall make the politicians quake with fear.

Don't support the fifth column alias the liberals of the fourth estate.

Anyone here remember Ed Abbey?

One of his quotes was to the effect that he could easily wash his hands after reading the likes of "Time" or "Newsweek", but how could he remove the small but odious stain left on his mind?:D
The proprietary regional editions of "Time" often degenerate into a sort of left-wing bulletin board, as two-blink notes.:uhoh:

So far, Bush has stomped a mudhole in their collective leftist behinds. He has managed to defeat them on every front, including winning back both houses of congress in an off year election. Something not done since the late 1800s. If I were they, I'd shut my mouth, lest someone point out that an "anti-intellectual" crushed them like bugs.

BTW who can name the only American President with an
M.B.A. from Harvard? How about the only American President that was a qualified jet fighter pilot? Hint: His dad was a Navy fighter/bomber/recon pilot in WWII and their names are quite similar.

While we are at it, who can name the former vice-perpetrator that flunked God (Divinity School)?

Hint: Heez uh inteelecshul. He done invented this here internet thingy.

The binocular thing was Klinton. Nice to see that the Finnish press doesn't fall for the trap of potentially being confused by the facts. Why bother? It's just as easy to make stuff up, right?:fire: :cuss: :cuss:

I checked, the picture was indeed of Bush, it was taken while he visited the North Korean border last february. But I remember the Klinton picture too :D

I quit subscribing to one of the above named magazines and subscribed to a different one. Same with my local newspaper.

It's not enough to just avoid the stories that you don't like; you have to quit empowering them with your subscription money.

You mean this picture?!

It really looks like the caps are on. :scrutiny:

INTELLECTUAL = SOMEONE WHO SPENDS ALL THEIR TIME TALKING AND THINKING ABOUT WHAT THEY MIGHT DO IF THEY HAD ANY ACTUAL INFLUENCE OR POWER.

ANTI-INTELLECTUAL = SOMEONE WHO ACTUALLY GETS THINGS DONE IN THE REAL WORLD INSTEAD OF BLABBING ABOUT WHAT THEY WOULD DO IF THEY WERE IN CHARGE.

ANTI-INTELLECTUAL = BILL GATES HEAD OF MICROSOFT, SELFMADE BILLIONAIRE WHO DID NOT GRADUATE FROM COLLEGE, AND WHO WROTE SOFTWARE THAT MADE THE PC WORK FOR US ALL.

AS FAR AS THE LENS CAPS IF SOMEONE KEPT A CAMERA ON YOU ALL DAY EVERYWHERE YOU WENT IM SURE THEY COULD GET AN EMBARASSING PICTURE OR TWO ALSO.

BUSH LOOKS IN BINOCS JUST HANDED TO HIM, PHOTOGRAPHER SNAPS PICTURE, BUSH TAKES OFF LENS CAPS, I DONT KEEP LENS CAPS ON MY FIELD BINOCS DO YOU???

"They love big government, wish it was bigger, they are always doing things "for our own good" because they "know better". They keep wondering why we keep talking about "big brother" when they want to invade every aspect of my life to protect me from myself."

Unfortunately this sounds like Bush and all of our elected officials including my own governor in DE.

I saw that first picture in an email over a year ago, except it showed Clinton instead of Bush, and I mean the same picture.

Somebody is using a photo editing program to stick in anybody's face they want.
