Anyone ever installed and extensively used the Timney trigger in a CZ 452 LR? Would like to hear the good, bad and the ugly.

I have a Timney on a ruger rifle that is a great 1.6oz trigger . Been rock sold for 14 years. But Rifle Basix has a also very nice and simple trigger that will drop down to 10oz not the timneys 2lb. Buy direct cheaper and save on shipping. I have one of theres on a stevens 200 and it works very good with a 1lb 12oz brake.

You might also check over at rimfirecentral ,drop down to the cz section and ask there. There are springs and shears you can change to lighten the stock trigger. And if it can be done cheaper they will know how to do it.

Eric Brooks was know to market a fine $15 trigger kit. literally more money did not get you any better. that was +5 years ago and i have heard on the web people saying things about his 'honor' as a salesperson is different in the intervening years. you investigate, you decide....but at that price id still order another if i had the need.

A few months ago, I bought a CZ-452. By the time I put 50 rounds through it I decided I absolutely had to do something about its trigger. It was creepy, rough and heavy. I put a Timney in it and am quite pleased. The downside, is that it does take some stock inletting. I used one of the small sanding drums on my Dremel and hogged out the stock. Not a big deal, just go slow and check the fit frequently. Then seal the bare wood with something like Tru-Oil.

I've heard good things about the kits and Rifle Basix, but neither will fix the overtravel problem. The Timney has a trigger stop. It's spring loaded and also serves as the bolt release. Pull weight and engagement are fully adjustable.

The yodave kit worked wonders on my 452. It is simple to install, and made a VERY noticeable trigger improvement. The guy is good to deal with too. By far the best 20 bucks I have spent on gun related items.

+1. Forgot to add that comment earlier. Well worth the money.

I have that as well, Claude, in my Ultra Lux. I am hugely pleased with it. It has been one of the least expensive trigger jobs I have ever had and it can be completely reversed.

Thanks for the responses. I have heard good things about the Timney, but some complain about the safety not working afterwards, is why I am asking.

I actually had a trigger job performed by a smith, however, he would not go below 3 lbs as a matter of practice. I then changed the striker spring which again noticably increased trigger pull. Instead of the Timeny, I got with another smith yesterday who has a done a lot of CZ trigger work and he let me try the trigger pull on a personal CZ he owned, and it was great at about 2lbs. If not for that, I would to take my chances with the Timney.

He said he could work that out somewhat, but I think the probelm with the CZ is that you have to pull the trigger back to remove the bolt to clean it.
