I have a remington 700 SPS Tactical that has a Hogue stock. Shoots great with reloads. I am thinking of putting a timney trigger in it. I have read that you might need to inlet the stock and widen the trigger shoe. Anyone know if inletting the Hogue stock on this gun will be necessary? Also, anyone know if widening the trigger shoe opening would be required? I am hoping neither would be necessary.

Thanks.

A friend of mine said he has installed timney triggers without having to inlet but has not tried one on this hogue stock. Also has said he has heard of people who have had to inlet. Any reason for the randomness????

I see the Basix trigger is a little cheaper than the timney? pro/cons between the two???? Thanks.

Post 2006 stock inlet for X Mark trigger groups will require stock material removal fwd of aft action screw hole for safety lever clearance when installing a pre 2006 standard trigger group.

The Timney is superb! I installed one on my older Rem. 788, it made a world of difference, set at 36 oz.'s. I did have to trim a smidgen where the trig body fits inside the stock, but a sharp pocket knife took care of that, no problems since.
