I just ordered a Tisas Bantam pistol in .45ACP from Classic Firearms. The price was too good to pass up; it was on sale for $599. The cheapest I’ve seen them anywhere has been $875ish. I’m pretty excited to get it as the reviews of them have been positive and I think it’s a good-looking gun.

With regards to ordering from Classic Firearms…

After ordering, I asked Classic Firearms if they could hold off shipping until after Thanksgiving weekend just to avoid a situation in which the courier makes delivery attempts when my FFL is not in the shop (since people often take off or cut hours on the Wed-Sun of Thanksgiving week. Assuming that the gun ships within the next couple days, I want to prevent too many failed delivery attempts resulting in the gun being returned to the sender. I understand that there are some safeguards that business (such as the receiving FFL) and/or couriers have to avoid such situations (such as scheduling deliveries on certain days or holding the package at a hub), but I’d prefer just to avoid having to rely on those safeguards altogether by delaying the shipping.

Anyways, I got a reply from Classic Firearms that they “can not delay the shipping.” I’m curious whether there is a legitimate reason or if they just do not want to exert effort to accommodate a customer’s request. I don’t think that my request was insurmountable, especially since it hasn’t even been packed, nonetheless shipped yet. I also found it odd that there was no option at checkout to write a note about your order. I’ve ordered items, to include guns, from companies and have made similar requests or asked to modify an order and the vast majority of times, the retailers are happy and eager to accommodate so long as the order hasn’t shipped. I’ll refrain from full judgement until after the gun arrives, but I’m less than enthusiastic about their customer service at this point.

Many companies charge the card at the time of shipping. It is therefore in their best interest to ship promptly, and some ordering systems may not have provision for intercept of the order. That may also explain the absence of a special instructions field.

Mail order companies differ in order handling. There is no standard model. Changes in shipping costs and restrictions place a premium on taking out slack. The likelihood of complaints from shipping too quickly is much less than for taking more time than expected/desired.

Thank you for the information on this company's practices. We look forward to your report on the new pistol.

I purchased a Beretta 84 (Italian Prison surplus) from Classic. Shipping was prompt and flawless. I also got 2 additional magazines for a Beretta 81 from them.

Good people to do business with. Both guns and magazines were nicer than advertised.

I’ve got two Tisas basic guns. A .45 A1 “Service” and a 9mm US GI 9mm.
The .45 has been near flawless. Only had to file down the rear sight to get it to shoot closer to POA.

Re: 9mm; The provided Meggar 9-rd 9mm magazine won’t reliably feed with more than 6-rds. Works “OK” with other mags. Tisas DOESN’T warranty the magazines!

I plan to buy another slide to go on the .45. I thought I could get along with the GI sights.... But the gun begs for better! . SDS sells the slide assembly with Novak style sight cuts for $214.95 +shipping. You can’t have the slide cut and buy sights for that. Trigger and accuracy surprised me! About 4.5lbs and just a tad bit of creep
Just right for a SD Single Action semi-auto.

Having trouble warming up to the 9mm...

Who is 'SFS'?

The Tisas Bantam arrived at my FFL on 2 Dec. Everything looks good so I’m satisfied. I still think it’s kind of ridiculous that Classic supposedly wasn’t’t able to delay shipping (not that it was necessary since it shipped after Thanksgiving week anyways). In any case, I’m glad it all worked out.

Is the Bantam Officer's size? How's it shoot?
Have one of their 1911s, and like it a lot.

That looks so good...
It was top of my list a couple of months ago until a 2022 Bronco was available locally and that ate my disposable income for now.
I looked at the Tisas website the other day and it showed the Bantam Carry as discontinued?

I think the 4.25” T-Sauce Carry will be on my list to purchase… after the Luger and Suppressors

I ordered the tisas SDS duty in both 45 acp and the 9 mm duty. the 45 is flawless, have fired both factory loads and reloads to the tune of about 300 rounds, no problem. only thing I did was add the hogue grips with finger grooves, and put in a standard military type thumb safety, the ambi seemed a bit like it would break at any time. was really flimsy. I did keep the ambi to change if needed. I am retired military, carried 1911s for 20 years, and owned a slew of them for myself. Never had a problem. I did not need too, but had an ED BROWN drop in barrel and bushing, and put that in too. Will probably do the same for the 9 mm. ED BROWN products are awesome.

I like the duty because of the high profile fixed sights and beavertail grip safety. I have always been prone to hammer bite, on the military 1911s
Hammer bit it real with those old fashion grip safety. ! small bit of blood and flesh

I've never had hammer bite on my full size but did get bruised by the Tanker. Changing grips minimized that problem.

Nice quality case. The pistols are just as beautiful as the brands that cost twice as much and they feel like quality. I can’t wait to shoot mine Monday morning.
