I currently have the YHM 7.62 Phantom SS. I like the can, mounting device, and performance. I use it on my FN PBR, AR-10, AK-47, and 4 AR-10's. I really like how it mounts to the smaller caliber rifles.

But......its heavy. Kinda defeats the purpose of my lighter weight rifles and SBR's.

I'm waiting on a form 4 for a HALO for my AR's couldn't pass it up. But now I have a chance to get YHM titanium suppressors at cost. All my rifles already have the YHM mount. And the titanium suppressors are crazy light. I got to play with Gemtechs Sandstorm .308 suppressor, and it was able to be handled after 10 rapid fire .308 shots.

Im considering getting the 5.56 and 7.62 models.

They appear to be the same as SS models. Just with a titanium tube with inconel baffels.

My question is: how durable are they? Any issues with them and rapid fire? Short barrels? How do the welds hold up welding titanium to inconel?

And the million dollar question......Are they worth the extra money?

Thanks

I do not think the Titanium is worth the extra coin you will have to spend, most manufacturers only make them because they know people like to say "mine's titanium," and they know most smaller manufacturers will not work with titanium as much because its harder to work with and will wear tools and bits out faster.

But the titanium does offer lighter weight I think the stainless is double what the titanium weighs. If you were using it in a tactical environment, a competitive shooter or using it for hunts where you hike for several miles up and down large hills or mountains, I would say titanium all the way. But if your just going to put it on a gun, at the range or in your back 40, buy the stainless one and use the money your going to save for ammo, or your next suppressor.

You have your answers but when a person wants something like all of your toys you have, double the money is nothing and in the end you'll be happier with the lighter can.

I regret not getting a ligher can. I have a YH 5.56 steel phantom that i got at an incredible price but it makes most guns way too front heavy. On a 10.5" barrel and my MSAR its not bad but on a 14.5, 16 or even 20 it's too heavy.

i shoot one of zak's titanium suppressors on the end of a 29" barrel in fast-paced tactical matches. so weight is an issue. i've got over 5000 rnds though it so far and am very pleased

Yes!!!! Titanium all the way!!! Well worth the money. I have the YHM 762 QD Titanium. Best purchase I've made in years==and I paid full suggested retail. 1100.00

I have a TBAC 30P-1 on my hunting rig and it was worth the extra coin for the weight savings.

I have found that with NFA items buy what you want. Dont worry so much about if its worth the extra money. You will keep this item for the rest of your life.

Yeah, he's right here.

I'd do research on it were I you. I guess this is what you are doing now, but I'd look under a lot of rocks. I came to the conclusion that AAC was the best for me, their rifle suppressors are made of all inconel baffles and 316R. Heavy, but tough. Real tough, those are some of the finest steels you can get. It isn't cheap, so it kind of makes their prices look a little more down to Earth. Not to mention their Blackout mount, pricey, but that thing works better than any flash hider I've ever used.

From my perspective as a silencer manufacturer, all three propositions in this are false.

The thing about titanium is, it'll also suffer less erosion from hot gasses and carbon. Titanium is only about 20% lighter than stainless steel, but it IS a better metal all around.
