Hi

I'm planning to buy a tactical light for my new Glock 22. First I didn't want a laser, because I think that they are not the best for HD. IMHO, they give away where or what you are pointing at.

But in another thread I realized that a laser can be of great help when training. So I decided to also go with a laser.

My question is stated at the title of this post, but is headed to know if in your opinion, a laser is good idea for HD. If so, I'll go with a quality laser, built-in to the flashlight. Otherwise, I'll just get a good flashlight and a cheap laser and use the laser at the range.

BTW, TLR's are not definitive, I really don't know much about tactical flashlights, but I know streamlight is a reliable brand, since I've used/owned other models (not tactical) from them.

Really, for the money, sonny, I would recommend:

- LaserMax Uni-Max

- Insight XTI Procyon

Redundant, but separate systems, with less bulk than some light/laser combos.

The Uni-Max puts the laser emitter close to the bore axis.

The XTI Procyon campares well with the SureFire X200B and X300--at $100.00 less!

Either component can be used separately or in combination on any rail-equipped firearm!

Here are two links, but shop around:

+1 on the Lasermax Uni-Max and Procyon. The Procyon also has a strobe feature and is one of the smallest tac-lights on the market. I can get one around here for $129.99.

Plus, he can buy one now, and the other later, if he wants.

Useful Note: SureFire X200 & X300 will not fit beneath a LaserMax Uni-Max on Glock pistols. The weapon light body is too long and the trigger guard gets in the way.

As opd743 says, the Procyon "is one of the smallest tac-lights on the market." It fits beautifully beneath a Uni-Max on Glock pistols!

See RayB's pics of X200A Vs X200B, X200B Vs TLR-1 and Procyon Vs X200B on this thread: http://glocktalk.com/forums/showthread.php?t=923898

Lucky you!
Around here, I've been searching and searching and can't find any decent flashlights/lasers. Will have to wait 'till somebody travels to the states.

I found 2 streamlight dealers, here are the "cheapest" prices:
TLR-1=$163
TLR-2=$404

If Obama wins, we'll have no need for any of it. He would ban semi-automatic handguns...

Look me up in November.

I have a TLR-2 on my P220 and like it quite a lot. The laser, as you say, aids in training. I think I'm a little steadier after having used it a few times now.

I don't know about not using it for HD. The light pretty much gives away what you're pointing at. And as you say, you can choose to use it or not, which is something you can't do with just a light or just a laser.

I found that you can actually use only the light to aim as well. I found that at 15 feet, the "center" (brightest middle circle bit, I guess) of the beam pretty much covered a man sized target. So it was very easy tell roughly where you were going to hit, because you could easily see where the brightest center was. I actually got some pretty good groups aiming with the light by itself. Good practice, I guess.

Another thing I like about it is that it's extremely bright 9I want to say 300 lumens, but I don't actually recall). Anyone having it shined in their eyes will immediately look away, with very purple spots clouding their vision.

I've not tried any of the other models mentioned in the thread, so consider this completely anecdotal.

I like the TLR-2 so well I bought 5 of them, so obviously I'm a big fan of them on defense guns.
I also practice with them several evenings a week and use the one on the Ruger every night when checking around the place.

The laser is bright and holds Zero.
To give you an idea how bright the light is. In total darkness if I stand in one corner of the living room and shine the light at the opposite corner everything in the room can be seen and I can read a newspaper held in my hand.

Just a light may work for you but I prefer the TLR-2 laser/light.
Sometimes hitting exactly where you want to hit, using the laser, is so easy it's almost like cheating.:D

Pistol grip shotgun. Shot from the hip. Fast fire.
#4 and 00 buckshot, in BG's chest, shot from 17 yards.
Slugs in the small target and BG's Jeans were shot from 26 yards.

Hey all:

I'm waiting on the 10 day waiting period before picking up my new Glock 19. My only other weapon purchase was a Glock 17 back in 1993 which I really liked but was stolen.

Here's my question concerning the XTI Procyon light coupled with the Lasermax Uni-Max. If your using the strobe on your target will they be able to see your laser?

I also read a post about the XTI Procyon coming out with a laser combo at the end of the year. This might be the way for me to go looking at Lasermax's prices, especially for the green Uni-Max. Yikes!

Whoa, those are some messed up prices. I got my TLR-2 maybe 2 years ago for about $220-$240. I'd look around on the internet before you go paying those kind of prices.

I sold my TLR-2 in flawless condition for $150(for no good reason too), so there are always deals out there if you look around. Good luck.
