I've been Googling and having a difficult time sorting this one out... I have a GA CCW permit that TN honors. TN law requires that guns left in cars be locked away, unloaded, and seperate from ammunition... but as far as I can tell that applies to non-permit holders. Since I have a permit, do I need to unload the gun everytime I need to leave it in the car, like when I visit the post office? Or can I just lock it in the glove box...

The TN laws you mention do not apply to concealed carry permit holders. Think about it, it wouldn't make sense. If you are certain TN recognizes your GA permit, then you're good to go.

You are not in control of the firearm when you leave it in your car. I don't know the law there, but I would just unload it and stow it until you know 100%.

You should investigate this with local people that are educated on the law there, I don't think something you heard in a forum thread would hold up in court.

Sharps, you do have a point in that it’s good to follow up on comments but answers in a forum will many times give you a lead on where to check on the “official” facts. Also, I found most gun forums to be accurate and anything out of line is almost always corrected about 30 times before it’s over.

TN recognizes the GA permit. If you have to leave your pistol in the car, just lock it up out of sight.
