oooohhhhh paint, sounds like fun.... i'll let mike take care of that...

for those of you who are out there today, can we get a report of what the target boards look like???
thanks
john

[jedi mind-trick on] This isn't the rifle you're looking for. [jedimind-trick off]

"This isn't the rifle I'm looking for."

Huh? Wha? Hey, where's my Marlin?

So what time are the Sunday folk planning to rendezvous at the Fairgrounds gun show tomorrow. Frank? You going to be there? Every time I try to find that place by myself I end up lost.

I was out at the range today. The target boards are brand new.

I will most likely be out at the gun show ~10am. If it's as dead tomorrow as it was today, it won't be hard to spot one another. Once again, I'll be wearing a green Molon Labe hat, shorts, and a t-shirt covered by an overshirt for those who don't know what I look like already. Also, my blue Ford Ranger will be parked under the covered building to the right of the hall the show is held in, it's tags are the same as my username on here.

The show was pretty lame today. All the same dealers with all the same deals. Some of those guys have had the same guns for sale for at least the 6 years I've been going to it. I wonder when they'll realize that no one is interested in their overpriced crap and knock the prices down to reasonable levels? Oh well, it sure beats the heck out of walking around a quilting sale.

See ya tomorrow.
Frank

I'll be at the gun show tommorrow too, should be around 10am or so. I'll be wearing a red ballcap, and most likely a t-shirt and shorts. I'll be drivin a subaru station wagon.

I've gotta pick up some ammo at the show.

I'll be bringing,

Bushmaster M4gery
Ruger 10/22
Ruger Mark 2
Springfield Armory 1911
beretta 92FS
Ruger GP100

Ok we will be at the show around 10:00 AM on Sunday. We will NEED to follow somebody to the range since we have only been once.

I will have a grayish SIGARMS hat on and will probably quickly hook up with BryanP, OEF or somebody else that we know.

Here is the final tally of what we are bringing.

In honor of the anniversary of the day of days.
*M1 Garand
*M1 Carbine
*Colt 1911A1 milspec

In honor of........well just getting out to the range with everybody.
*M1A Scout Squad
*HK USC .45 Carbine with grease gun magazine conversion/Kobra sight.
*Robarms VEPR II 7.62x39(Uber AK varient)
*DPMS AR15 dedicated .22LR upper on a Bushmaster lower.

We are only bringing a little ammo for each and we may not even shoot them all but they will be there should anybody like to try. The only thing I ask is that factory ammo is what is used and commie ammo is only ok for commie guns. if anybody cares to shoot anything we bring.

The next time you folks do this somebody PLEASE PM or email me as soon as the first mention is made. I'm SERIOUS, we are planning to meet you folks this summer or fall, but we need a couple weeks to arrange days off, flights etc.

I can bring a few toys, and if someone can receive a shipment of ammo for my M1, I figure I can buy whatever other ammo I need out there cheaper than I can ship it.

Keep us in mind, we haven't been to TN for about five years.

I will be at the show around 9:30 to 10:00. I went to the reloaders bench to get some reloading supplys and walked out with a Bersa 380 and 100 rounds of ammo.

I will need the support of the everyone here to keep me on the straight and narrow while at the show. :D

Also Yesterdaysyouth:

Consider the ammo picked-up I will grab it while I am there.

:scrutiny: or is that just what we're telling the wife?:scrutiny:

i know nothing....

bryanp, any chance that lever gun will chamber .357 maximum???

I doubt it. I've never looked at .357 Maximum before but a quick search found this thread -

http://leverguns.sixgunner.com/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=2505

The telling phrase is this -

I also have a Marlin 1894 that I had converted to .357 Maximum. It works, sort of, but I could not recommend the conversion.

It looks like it requires a throat job to convert from what I'm reading.

Well, it turned out quite well. Quite a few of us met at the gunshow and then went to the range. There were quite a number of people at the range today.

myself
Steelharp
admar2
mwithers72
BryanP
Spanky McFly
Darrin (and his nephew Dominic)
Kendra Pacelli (and her daughter Libby)
Oleg Volk
Intune (and his son, Addison, and daughter, Leah)
einnor1040 (and two of his friends)
cslinger
sheslinger
yesterdaysyouth
Black92lx (and two of his friends)
Amish_Bill
Rabbi (and his wife and son)
moparmike

I think there may have been some others, but my memory is pretty iffy at times. There was a WIDE variety of weapons present, including several AR's and AK's, an M-1 Carbine, a Garand, an M-1A, an HK USC, several Mausers and Mosins, an Arisaka, several scatterguns, and plenty of handguns. God only knows how much ammo was expended today. Pics shall certainly be forthcoming.

We had a great time today. We brought the M1 Garand and the M1 Carbine for the express purpose of paying a little tribute to the "Day of Days." While shooting the Garand, I believe Admar said "can you imagine how many times that sound was made on that fateful day?" or something to that effect referring to the PING when the clip ejects. That really made me think about that day. Very sobering thought.

I really enjoyed Einnor's .41 magnum and BryanP's lever action. The high point for me though was Intune's boy Addison going from person to person with that cute little "help me" face trying to bum .45 ammo so he could shoot our USC. Every 10 minutes or so he would come back to me with a handful of .45 and that my turn face.

Admar had the loudest but coolest looking AR15 ever. It had everything on it. I am pretty sure he didn't even know how everything worked on it.....I sure didn't. :D

Well once again it was great to meet everybody and see both old and new faces.

On a final note I must say that I got a chance to shoot Steelharps's 1911 and that was a very cool moment. Steelharp seemed to like our M1 Carbine very much.

All in all a great and very tiring day.

Take care,
Chris

Today was definitely a blast. Not only the opportunity to shoot such a variety of weapons, but also the pleasure of meeting such a great group of people.

I look forward to getting to know alot of you guys better, both on and off the range.

A couple of personal highlights were getting to shoot cslinger's M1 Garand, or was it sheslingers? :) besides the addictive nature of the Garand ping, thinking of the history behind those rifles, and how well they served our boys so many years ago. kinda gives me goosebumps. shooting steelharps beauty of a 1911 was a real treat too. Unfortunately, or maybe fortunately, I've got Garanditis and I'll be getting one of my own shortly.

another highlight was shooting moparmike's 8mm Mauser. what a blast! guess I'm a recoil addict or something cuz I love shooting that thing!

I definitely had a great time, and can't think of a better way to spend a afternoon or any better people to spend it with!

Tony.

Great to see some pics ... any more to come? Looks like one heck of a good day for all. One of those occasions when I wish I was closer.

I have been following Steelharp's quest with interest and some support ... and so am particularly keen to follow such events.

Yeah, 28 mph. It's on a short bypass around the downtown area of busy Ashland City, TN. It runs alongside a factory, which you can see in the background. Why they chose 28 and not 25 or 30 is beyond me. Maybe it was a compromise between the two? It was probably the result of much heated debate too.
