To Do Or Not To Do?

personally i feel that if some sort of plauge were to sweep through (such as the dreaded liberalistitis) it is important that i bring all of my weapons on board 2 x 2 as to reistablish the population in the event of such a horible catastophe. because of this belief i have thinned the heards down to the more popular breeds. just doing my part to help the survival of the species :D

To many guns ??? *snort phbbb cough cough :scrutiny: * whew had me there for minute that was funny. seriously pick each one up and if it talks to you keep it

IMHO
I am a "she", and if my hubby wants a gun and it is in our means, i say BUY IT! And keep what ya got besides (if you so desire) ;)

I always suspected you were really strange.

Now you talk about REDUCING your collection.

Case closed.

The firearm is only half the equation. The skill to use it accurately and efficiently completes the package. You can only shoot one gun at a time. If OTOH, you are simply a collector and markmanship abilities are secondary, then the emphasis will be on acquisition. Not putting that down, I've suffered from the same malady, but come to the conclusion that what I own is not who I am.

Yeah, he's meshugeneh enough to not sell me that M41B now that he's mentioned turning loose of it.

...although I can find them a little cheaper, I know his is probably nicer.

Rabbit.

I aint second guessing myself................

I love them all....TOO MUCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Heres my new plan

Sell the Stery SSG with scope and rings $1500 (a bargain)
Sell my Swede 38 for $450 (I noticed people getting in the $500s on em)
Sell my P99 with ns for $450 (another bargain)
Sell my M48 for $150

All those are achievable, that gives me $2500 without selling mags and assorted crap, which gets me a base Blaser!!!! In 308...

Then I have a few more months to accumalate the other pieces (scope rings 6.5 barrel, mirage band), which is almost as much fun as shooting!!!!

And I get to keep my Garand and M41B..the pain is that much less!!!!
So see spiffy, Im still working on it!!!!!

PS..Syl Sarco has a M41B for $1500 but its a put together I hear....

Send them down here. See if you can live without them for a year, if you want them back, they're yours, otherwise I buy 'em :)

I also go through phases where I thin the herd of stuff I don't shoot that much or are not fun to shoot. That allows me to try different stuff. I also admit that I have a bad case of the "it's new I have to have one"itis. At one time Lew Horton sold a .45 ACP, .45 Colt, .41 mag. and 44 mag 3 inch barreled revolvers. I HAD to have a one of each. After getting them and them sitting in the gunsafe for 2 years without shooting them I sold them.

Ken, sometimes it is time to thin the herd for the health of the entire herd.

Well I know you can't sell the Nagant.... we are just itching for that late night "7.62 Nagant vs. Grizzly Bear" Thread.

Well...here is my .02 cents. I have only sold off 3? guns from my very limited collection to finance other purchases. I wish that I had not. No sentimental, function, sane reason to keep them so I figured what the he**, sell them. Bad move. Although, I would not hesitat to part ways with my first handgun, a Davis .380 , that the gunshop owner assured me was the best thing going for reliability, firepower, concealabilty, the only choice for a newbie to purchase and his personal only reccomendation for me ;^) ! Bastard!

OK..

Well now I am back in love with my SSG since it popped me a .8 5 shot group, AND the 300 H&H was perfroming so well it needs a scope and some rocking handloads :)

So now, finance a scope for the pre 64, and I really want anopther nagant, and......maybe a series 70...

So....

Sell P99
Sell Yugo
Sell Steyr Model M 30-06 (ha, another find)

Whose interested :)

Garands were made to shoot. They are also in a caliber for light to medium hunting. The 300H&H will handle anything else even in your ballpark. Ammo availibility is the only drawback to the 300H&H. The others just hold no interest for me and are tradeing, upgrade material. Also less to worry about the ravages of time attacking several different firearms. Cleaning attention needs to be paid and several make it lots harder.

I always read on this and other boards "DONT SELL GUNS EVER!". Heck, I've posted that advice myself.

Since then I quit a high paying office job and am now a self-employed woodworker. Do I sell guns now if I never shoot them and want something else? You bet your a**!

P.S. Got less $$ but can go shooting whenever I want now...well worth it :D

I try not to let anything leave my collection without extreme deliberation, mostly because I have kicked myself repeatedly for some I did swap or sell. So, we just buy now!
Wildalaska, didnt see your post in reply to mine before, but I suppose I'm not SWMBO-(try not to be)-LOL--unless he talks of letting a firearm slip from his ownership. Then I tend to become an outspoken BAG. Heh!
