To M&P or not to M&P, that is the question

Oh Hi Oh
I'm thinking of getting an M&P 9mm sub compact but am trying to decide if I have anything to gain by doing so. I already have or have previously owned:

Glock 26
S&W CS9
Walther P99 sub compact, 9mm
XD sub compact, 9mm
HK P2000sk, 9mm

I know there are a lot of M&P vs Brand-X threads on THR but I think I'm asking slightly different question. The guns listed are all pretty close in size, weight and capacity to one another and to the M&P and fill a specific niche. Does the M&P have anything to offer over the guns listed above? Unfortunately the local range does not have a sub M&P for rent so I can't try one out.

Thanks

With the switchable backstraps on the M&P, it should offer you the most 'custom' grip feel out of the group. I believe the H&K also does this, but at a much higher price point.

The 2 free mags + $50 rebate S&W is running right now makes buying a M&P a very good deal.

You don't say which pistols you no longer have, but I think you have your bases covered without an M&P. That said, a second M&P 9mm compact just came into my house. At under $500 this handgun is a good value. Throw in the current rebate for $50 plus 2 mags and I can't think of a better deal.

FWIW, I've never seen the M&P referred to as "sub" compact. Just compact.

I guess I keep call the compact sub-compact but just mean their smallest frame. A local store has them for $438 which seems too hard to pass by, even though I don't "need" an M&P.

Thanks!

Well, the M&Pc is easy on the eyes compared to the Glock, but I'm pretty sure the G26 is the shortest (heightwise) of all the pistols you listed.

S&W customer service is pretty good from what I hear, and the rebate plus two free mags is nice too. But, if already own one or more of the others, unless the M&Pc just fits you better, I see no reason to get one.

I've owned a G26 for 8 years, and switched to a P99 compact A/S 9mm 2 years ago. My fav subcompact now!

I really liked the P99 Compact but it did not like me. The recess at the top of the backstrap just didn't fit my hand so I'd end up with a raw spot in the web of my hand after every box of ammo. I tried gripping it several different ways but never did find a way to grip without pain. I reluctantly sold it. Again, nothing wrong with the gun. More something wrong with the way my hand is make.
