With identity theft being a serious problem these days, these applications should not be available to the public. I've been informed, by someone at the Department of Safety, that "most of the time" the SSNs are blocked out. "Most of the time" isn't good enough. Even if the SSNs were deleted 100% of the time, your permit information is available to lowlifes such as the Tennessean editor who decided to publish the names of permit holders a few years ago.
