The only rifles I have are the (2) .22's that were handed down to me. One was my grandfathers and is a Sears and Roebuck from about 1947-1948. It has a K-Mart scope on it and I have no idea how old the scope is. It shoots just dandy.

The other is a Revelation (?) and says Western Auto on it. It was my father in laws and it was passed to the wife and I when he passed a few years back. Holds like 18 rounds in the tube and shoots really well.

Of course I have plenty o shotguns and Im a Mossberg fan so....

Tomorrow Im gonna pick up an ATR100 in .30-06 from the local Wally World. They have both the .30-06 and the .270 at $249 right now and I want a rifle.

Since I doubt Ill ever pick up an EBR, this will work for me LOL

Ill use it to kill deer I suppose.

Anyone else have one of the ATR's? Im reading way more good than bad on these.

I've heard the Mossbergs are pretty good. I've also heard that the Marlin XL7 is REALLY good. Should just be a few dollars more. I'm sure you'll be happy with either one, but just thought I'd throw that out there.
I did read something recently about a Mossberg bolt failing. Not sure of the accuracy of the report, but you may want to google it up and get your own feel of the report. Again to reiterate, this is not a first-hand report and I am not reporting it as fact, so no need for anyone to pile on me if you like Mossbergs. I do too.

There have been previous threads here that make light of a few ATR's experiencing problems with bolt to bolt handle failures. It seems it is a pressed fit and perhaps the tolerances were not perfect for a good mating on a few. This is only word of mouth and yet to be substantiated.
There are many who love the ATR, and consider it a good value and have had no trouble.

This was my caution as well and it would have been redundant to retype it. :D

I would look at the Marlin XL7 instead of the ATR.

The ATR may turn out to be OK, but until the issue of bolts coming back into shooters faces is resolved I would look somewhere else.

I'm not trying to trash the gun, I actually like a lot about them for the money. I am not a big Savage fan, but they are proven. For about the same money I would look at the Marlin or Stevens 200.

I bought one last weekend. I didn't get to shoot it much since Wal-mart was pretty cleaned out of .30-06 but I did shoot some 1" groups. :)

go look at the xl7 im getting just over moa(1.25 at 100yrds) and a guy posted with hand loads hes getting just over .5

edit just saw the last post

I just looked it over again and I swear I dont think this thing has ever been fired. Not a mark on it inside and out.

Im sure its been fired but I doubt any more than a box of rounds went through it.

I gotta buy some ammo tomorrow. Wally World was out when the wife and I went grocery shopping tonight.

The shelves had more ammo on them I can tell you that.

Im gonna hit the other close by Wally tomorrow morning.
