As you may remember my son Brendan turned 18 at the end of last year. I would have thought he would have bought his own rifle by now, even if only a Mosin Nagant M44. After all this time, I sort of thought he cooled off on the idea of buying his own gun. Tonight though he told me he had been to a local gun store and priced a SAIGA in .223 at $350, the only caliber they had in that brand. He said they were also going to get in SAIGA rifles in 7.62x39. I suggested he may want to price a .308 too. ;) I also told him to shop around for price.

Then I suggested he should save his cash if he wants one. He really surprised me then and told me he has been saving his change for one. My guess is he will save enough within 6 months to a year, maybe sooner if he also saves some cash from his job.

All the best,
Glenn B

Looking at how the prices are increasing, I'd help him out a little bit so that he can buy a rifle sooner than in 6 months. Does he have a birthday or anything coming up?

On this one I think I'll let him handle it himself, unless the dems win in November, then I might add something so he can make a quick buy. I'd like to keep out of it as much as possible and let him be fully responsible for making the opurchase, sort of a passage to manhood as far as guns goes.

All the best,
GB

Yeah, that's a good reason to make him pay for all of it. If the Dems win, who knows what will happen to the future of civilian firearms ownership.

Congrats on your son saving up money :)

If he was around here I am sure I would be able to find him some busy work to help him earn that gun.

Though I think it would not be spoiling the kid if you bought him some ammo for his gun :)
