I'm not a gun collector, but I have over 20 guns and I find that I only regularily use a handfull of them.

I have 4 shotguns, but almost always only use one of them, a 12 ga Stoeger side x side for bird hunting. I really like 2 chokes and 2 triggers.

I have 9 handguns, but usually only use 3 of them, a Glock G26 for CCW, a Single Six 22wmr for small game and plinking and a 454 SRH for big game hunting. I rarely shoot the others.

I have 8 long guns and a Thompson G2 rifle with 3 barrels, but I usually only shoot 2 of these guns, a Savage '06 for big game, the TC with a 17m2 barrel for small game and plinking and a .223 barrel for varmints and longer range plinking.

How many do you have and how many do you actually use and for what?

I generally buy 3-5 guns a year and sell a few, but what the heck, I'm a sick puppy and really like guns.

I have more than you and I don't even hunt. My guns are all range toys. Sure I keep a bunch for self defense, but I've never needed them for that and hope I never do.

I have a few favorites. The cheap to shoot guns get shot the most. 22LR, 7.62x54R, 9mm, those are shot a lot. Still, I have a lot of fun when I take one of the Enfields out or shoot the CZ-52 occasionally.

The thing I wrestle with is why do I need a dozen SKS, or half dozen Enfield No.4s or K31s or enough Mosin Nagants to fill an entire safe alone. I just can't seem to buy one of a type and be happy with that. I gotta collect the whole set.

I have 13 guns. A Winchester 94 30-30, Winchester model 270 .22, M1 carbine, Savage arms 12 guage, and a Western field 20 guage that were all given to me by my grandfather, and will never be sold. Of my own I have 2 Remington 700 30-06's that I use for deer hunting, 2 Ruger 10/22's for plinking and target shooting, a Remington 870 12 Guage Super Mag for HD and Hunting, M 39 for target shooting (although I never use it), Ar-15 for Plinking, Etc., and a Kimber TLE II in .45 for HD, CCW, and Plinking. I use most of MY guns, my grandfathers get used now and again, but they hold a certain centimental value as I never met him, he died almost 20 years before I was born.

Yes, I have more guns than I can shoot in a day or two.

I have a collection of a particular caliber, and though I do shoot them, it is not often.

I have competition guns for 3 different disciplines and they all get shot on a regular basis.

I have several guns for personal/house defense that get shot and cleaned about twice yearly.

There are also a few that don't fit these categories, and they get shot occasionally.

I've got guns that I haven't shot in years. Not that I don't like them but it's just some time before I get around to shooting them.
If I started shooting a different gun every day, after three months I'd still be shooting a different gun and I'm still buying guns.

I'll take spells and shoot one or two a lot.
For instance in the last couple months I've been shooting and experimenting with the Kel Tec PLR-16 .223 pistol almost every day. It's the most interesting gun I've bought in a long time.:)

My gun assortment is kinda like a set of golf clubs. I've got a variety for most any situation I want one for. I'm not big on duplication. I can't see having 7 different 12 gauge shotguns or 3 30-06's.

Problem is, some of my guns are 10 years old and never fired because the situation hasn't come up yet.

For example, I've got a 300 WM for elk hunting. Never went on the hunt, but if I'm ever fortunate enough to go, I'm ready. Planning on a PD hunt, so I've got 5 guns for that. SC shotgun. 10 gauge for turkey and geese.

There's a real good reason for the .45-70, but I can't think of what it is off hand. And everyone needs a .357 Herret Contender in case you're deer hunting and the other 4 guns don't work.

Actually, I've been seriously considering thinning the herd. Too many guns to shoot in the too little time I have to use them.

i want to collect fewer but higher quality guns. ideally, my collection would be one of each type, the best i can afford. i.e.
1 shotgun (wilson scattergun 1187)
1 ccw pistol (wilson supergrade compact 1911)
1 service rifle (RRA AR15 w/white oak mods)
1 shtf rifle (RRA AR15 w/mall ninja stuff)
1 sniper-flavored precision rifle (TBD)
1 varmint-flavored precision rifle (TBD)

plus an assortment of 22LRs and ideally, i'd shoot all those on a weekly basis.

reality is that like a crack addict, i've been collecting lots of other stuff that i just don't have time to shoot. this other stuff, while very entertaining, has taken too much time away from The List.

lately, i've been debating selling some of the stuff I haven't shot in more than a year. unfortunately, some of it was also inherited, and my wife doesn't want to let it go.

I have a lot more than most people, but who says you have to shoot every single one all the time?
And just what is too many guns?

I have a few, of course.

I'm currently infatuated with my rossi(taurus)M971 .357 mag... with a 6" barrel and using .38 special it's pretty cheap to shoot all day long, and I'm getting rather good at hitting things to the 100ft (~33yd) line. Fun stuff.

Too many guns = Too much FUN!:)
Right now I'm into handgun's alot. Rifle's some, & shotgun's a little.
I take spurt's & maby I'll shoot more shotgun stuff & less handgun's. HECK, I just like to shoot!:neener: :neener: :neener: :)

I like to keep things simple. I'm still a starving student, so I can't really justify any guns I don't use. (Everything I buy must first go through the sub-committee on finance.)

I will be buried with my Kimber Custom II. It's my carry gun, and I strap it on when I hunt too. I got a .22 conversion kit for it, so I don't have to get 3 different guns for three different uses.

I have an M-1 carbine I inherited, it's mostly for my wife for HD. But I have killed many rabbits and a few coyotes with it.

I recently bought an SKS from a friend of mine who was moving to Jersey. Cheap and fun to shoot. Over time, I will accessorize it a bit. I like having a coyote gun I don't mind dragging through the sagebrush.

I have a Remington 870 shotgun I use for everything. When I am rich, I might get a turkey gun and a skeet gun. I also have a tactical barrel for it.

My dad, through a bizarre set of circumstances, wound up with 2 S&W model 1500 rifles in .270, and gave me one. I use it for all big game.

I have owned, and got rid of, either because I replaced them, or couldn't afford to keep them, a Glock 22, a Remington 700 VS in 308, a Remington 700 PSS in 308, and M1A, and a variety of other handguns I carried before I got what I wanted. (I really don't want more than one.) If I can't afford to shoot it regularly, I have a hard time keeping it. Too many bills. I pick the one I really want and stick with it.

I plan on buying 2 AR lowers, and building one in M-4 configuration, (for PD and SHTF,) and the other more or less like a Bushmaster Varminter Special. (coyotes.) I have a friend who custom builds Mauser actions, and I want him to make me one in .22 Cheetah. (a .308 necked down to a .22, using 55 grain bullets.) I would like a heavy revolver, like a vintage 6" python or 686. Maybe one day when I really have plenty of money, a heavy rifle in .338 Lapua. When I master one rifle and caliber, I may get another.

I have 26 guns.....

The most "used" guns are 2 of my .22 rifles that get shot at the range for target practice. I carry 1 pistol for CCW.

Other than that the others are just setting there, looking purty.

I've got a dozen or so. My shotguns haven't been fired for years, except once or twice I've steped out back and fired them down the hill to make sure they still work. I've got a .36 cal T/C muzzle loader I've never fired. Had it for years. I shoot my 22 rifles once in a while. (I'd shoot them a lot more if I had a more convient place to shoot them. The only place I have requires you to shoot a rifle from a bench, and I find that kinda dull after I get them sighted in. I need a place to plink. :D ) My 9mm pistols get a fairly regular workout, but my 22 pistols get the vast majority of my range time.

The one that I use most is a .308, the next is a .22 rifle. I use them mostly for missing targets.

I own 5 revolvers,2 semi-auto's and 1 shotgun.I
can CCW any of the revolvers but 90% of the
time it's a 3" 65-3 with a 642-2 as a BUG.The
semi-auto's are both range only guns for now.
The shotgun is for home defense along with a
3" charter arms bulldog.

:D I know what ya mean. :D

Let's see... the ones I use the most are a Yugo M48, and a Vektor SP2.

I tend to rotate mine on a fairly (ir)regular basis. I take my newest (1911) to the range every time, and pick one or two rifles that it seems like I haven't shot in a while. I might want my .223 boltie, but I'll forego that if I haven't shot my Mosin, or M1 in a few months.
