Have $500.00 in WDK funds (Wife Doesn't Know), I have saved this slowly for a long time. It is time to spend it!!! I had planned on purchasing a CZ97b, as I do not have a 45 yet. I currently own a Kahr K9, CZ75bd as my only pistols. I have thought about getting the Kadet attachment for my CZ75, or even a Walther P22. Heck, I could even do both of those. Then the other gun I have been considering is a Springfield XD9. Or.......I could even pick up a Sar 3 to add to the rifle collection.
Anyone have some thoughts?

I'm sorry. These are hard decisions.

I love my SAR 1. I'd have to go with the SAR 3.

The Walther p 22's are cool little gun. A little small for guys with larger hands though. I couldn't get a good grip on it.

Good Luck. Hope she doesn't find the money

I would go for the CZ97. Being that this is a handgun forum....I'll leave my love of AK's out of this. :)

Don't let it burn a hole in your pocket. Keep accumulating.
Then you can get something nice when you know what you really want and what you are going to do with it.

Agreed, you need a 45 acp in the collection. From what I've read on other forums, the CZ is a nice pistol. The other gun I like from your list is the XD but in 357 sig...that gun is an attention getter! :what:

Is this going to be for a collection or a working battery? If its for a collection just get whatever's clever. If you want something for your battery, assess and deficiencies in your battery and purchase accordingly.

I know that none of these were in your list but a Ruger Mark II I feel is the nicest .22 out there. I do give a nod to the Neo and the Buckmark, the Walther and the CZ, but the Ruger I feel really takes the cake. I also feel if you are going to get a single .45, it should be a 1911 and a Springfield Mil-Spec fits nicely in that price category.

You should get your wife something special. She deserves it, doesn't she?

:neener:

The CZ75 was my first gun purchase, and I became an instant fan of CZ products after my first time shooting it.

So I bought a CZ97. And I love it. If you go for this one, you won't be disappointed.

I also agree with the others here that everyone should own a .45.

Whatever you get, enjoy! :D

Don't be a "sheeple" and follow the pack! Be original: take that $500.00 and buy four Hi-Points.....when one gets dirty or jams, toss it like a Bic lighter and go to the next:scrutiny:

Thanks for the suggestions. I think I am going to stick with the original plan and get the CZ97b. Now, the only problem is........there is only one place I have found in Utah that has one in, and they are pretty proud of it. $580.00 for a blued after taxes. I guess I will have to look in to having someone order one for me or using gunbroker.

Sounds like that $500 is hard earned money.

Let me be a "wet blanket" for a moment...

Individual Retirement Account (IRA) fully funded for 2002 or 2003? Boring, yes, but you should consider the future...this is $500 spent on a luxury, if you already have two guns...

Are you sure there is NOTHING more important than the new gun?

Future car (need to save for that)?
Life insurance (if you have kids, and you die, who takes care of them?)?
Prepaying mortgage principle? ($500 now equates to thousands saved down the road...)

Yes, countless boring, life important things to consider...

If all else is done, however...buy the gun.

WDK .. I love it!

I have a CZ 97 that I love, however, it's definitely one of those "must fit" type of guns. Large, double stack grip, long reach, ... try it on before you buy.

So many guns, so little time .... just a matter of which you buy FIRST!

:D :(

you ruined it for me Forseti

i have 500 bucks, and the wife knows about it, and i was going to buy a gun this weekend at the gun show. Now you're making rethink the whole thing. I was even toying with the idea of that pt-145, now that taurus fixed them.

I had planned on purchasing a CZ97b, as I do not have a 45 yet.
SO whatcha waitin' for?

Get thee to a gunnery!

Forseti,

This sounds like money that's been squirreled away after the rest of the necessities have been taken care of. I could be wrong, but I think most people who post here would put their gun purchases far behind taking care of their families, both now and in the future.

Ouch Forseti! I am now seriously overcome with guilt.

Really the only reason it is "WDK" money is for the purpose of buying a new gun only. She is the kind of person who thinks once you have one gun, that is all you need. She does not understand. So I am just trying to keep the marriage smooth and without conflict ;) At least untill she happens on to my new gun and wonders where it came from. I am hoping that I have enough of an arsenal that it will just blend in with the rest.

The kids, the mortgage, and everything is great. Oh........I did not make an IRA contribution yet, but I will with my tax refund.

Sheeeiiiittttt!!

I am about ready to return my Hi Power now! Dang! Think I'll sell all my guns too! I feel guilty! :uhoh:

Seriously, go get your gun, you saved along time for it! You know your wife is doing the same thing with HDK money! :D :D You know, all those purses and shoes come from HDK funds. So, go get your gun and cheer up! ;)

Consider the Witness .45 before you decide. It's a CZ97 clone. I have 700+ rounds thru mine with no problems. At $337.00 in Wonder Finish, it's one of the best pistol values you'll find.

Yes, I know...my comments are definetely in the "wet blanket" category.

But gun owners need to be extra responsible in all areas, in my mind..."home finances" is an important area to be responsible in...

I have more than one gun myself. And MANY times I have had the urge to buy this or that. Had to stop myself, get other priorities done first.

Alternatively...guns are tools, some better for some purposes, some better for others. You could reswizzle your collection...I've done that as well.

Sell the stuff you don't shoot. Keep or buy stuff you will shoot more of.

If you have a Kahr K9, do you really want an XD? (or do you just want to try one out for a little while...much less expensive to find some range that rents them...).

I've never been enamored with .22LR pistols...don't seem like much of challenge to shoot...too easy. Boring. Inexpensive ammo, however...nah, still too boring.

New rifle? C'mon, which one that you already have do you shoot the most? Do you really need another? Which one really goes to the range more than the rest? Are there several that are dust collectors?

Simplify. Shed the ones that don't get used.

My first AR-15 was a 16" barrel flattop. After I shot it for a while, and learned more about AR's, I figured out what I *really* wanted was a 24" free floating barrel AR with a bipod and a nice scope. So I rebuilt the one I had, rather than get a new one. Sold the old parts, bought new ones. Cost of the parts sold nearly covered cost of new parts, incredibly (thank you ebay). Did it all without spending additional dollars other than my initial investment.

By now, I'll bet your much more knowledgable than you were when you bought your earlier guns. Now I'll bet you know what you really want/need/can use. Redo your entire collection, but do it in such a way you keep your $500. That might mean owning fewer guns....but they will see more use...

I'd trade both the K9, the CZ and the $

for one of the new PM Kahr 9mm,s a good pocket rig (velcro on both the rig and pockets) for say, with a set of Trijicon sights on it, and a used, steel-framed Kahr compact, leave the practice gun sights alone. Then you'd have a gun that could always be with you, and you wouldnt have to worry about lots of practice wearing it out. Or consider doing a lot of the practicing with a ($150 used) DAO Taurus PT22 pocket .22, and having 5000 rds of .22 into the bargain, along with a lot of 9mm practice ball. You have to have skill with the gun, too, you know.

BETTER ANSWER

Forget all that other crap; buy the CZ97.

Life is WAY too short to pay bills or buy Witnesses :D

PT22 = good (with right ammo)
