I cleaned up the bench and took this picture of the current open powders I am working with. Aarrgghhh!!

This is why I am trying to get down to a lot fewer.

Right now I leaning toward only using:
bullseye
trail boss
unique
2400
power pistol
AA9
IMR 4227
IMR 3031
IMR 4895
IMR 4350
IMR 4831

I will then cull again from there....

Oh yeah, Here is what it that powder fills:

you definately have a variety of powder, but isn't it nice when you hear or read of some fantastic load, you can go crank a few out without trying to track down the powder. i also noticed you are without the powder i am currently trying to track down, h322.

You could easily pare that down to Unique, H4895 or Varget and H-110. Very few cartridges those three won't cover.:)

Eyesore

You're right, that is a terrible mess! You need help. ASAP :scrutiny:

Why don't you box up that eyesore and send it to me. I'll figure out something to do with it.

No thanks necessary, that's just the kind of guy I am.
:D

The problem is just one of space. I don't really have enough space to keep all that powder open at once. I would much rather get down to a few powders and buy them more in bulk. I did not even show my bulk storage pile of the 4, 5 and 8 lb kegs.

Next home maybe I will have a whole series of shelves built in so I can put all of the cans up neatly but in the mean time I need to cut down the different types.

Thinking of that, I need to load up some 38 super this morning. Off to the presses once I finish up on the forums.

My needs are simple but I use Unique, Universal, and Winchester 231 for Pistol and IMR 4895 and Varget for rifle.

For pistol I could get by with:

AA #2, AA #5, & AA #9
or
W-231, WSF, & W-296
or
N320, N340, & N110
or
Bullseye, Unique, & 2400
or
Zip, Silhouette, & Enforcer

I would probably go with N320, N110, and would have to figure out which mid range powder, but I could be happy with AA #2, #5, & #9.

Too many good choices, but that beats when the choices were few.

I am also going to reduce the number of powders I use to make things easier. I am going to go to A#5 A#9 and H110 for pistol, and Varget for all rifle calibers.

Peter, You gotta get busy and shoot! Your stock pile is way to large.
I've been going with fast pistol powders and not replacing the slow ones.
Good luck with your decision.

That's precisely the problem I'm trying to avoid, I've been condensing my powder types from a whole bunch of small bottles to a few larger bulk containers, if a powder works out well for several calibres then I'll use that.
But I do still have some 'pet' powders, in small quanities for my 'pet' rifle's 'pet' loads, just need to draw a line somewhere. ;)
