So my old friend from college called me today. She is a little tiny fiesty Italian liberal. I mean, you take all the liberal/left wing sources on the news and multiply it by 10, you have my friend Marie. However, she has always been torn on guns. She fails to see why I "need" an AR-15, but she likes the idea that I have a weapon for self defense. Kinda weird IMO.
I think the reason we got along so well is because we didnt share any of the same opinions. Haha.
So anyway. I take my S&W model 10, Mossberg 12 gauge and SKS to the range. I seemed to have an over-abundance of ammuntion for these particular guns. Now these arent exactly starter guns, but this girl is very "womens rights" and I knew she could handle it. If not, we could always rent a .22 or 9mm.
So I go over the 4 rules, proper weapons handling and operation etc etc. And I start he with the model 10. At 7 yards, she was decent. Showed anticipation of the shot, but had a nice group. The shotgun intimdated her and she only let off about 4 rounds. Which is understandable for a beginner.
But the reason Im posting this long story. If not to pat myself on the back ....is simply because of her performance with the SKS.
It was an indoor range and I started her at 25 yards (the max). She put a tight group in the chest of Q target with a heavy com-bloc POS that isnt even zeroed to her. It was amazing. Shot after shot. Stone cold killer. haha.
So in conclusion. She is all for CCW, but isnt entirely comfortable shooting yet. And she is mature and responsible enough to hold off on carrying before learning. Shes going to buy some OC spray, and maybe take a course in shooting. Who knows. But...I think I did alright for today.
