Today I took a New guy shooting. He is a college proffesor and is a bit older than me. He is not anti gun but he only has fired a black powder musket for reenacting. So he asked me if I would take him shooting and I said gladly. He said he wanted to try something thats fun and semi-auto. So I took my SAR-1 Romanian AK. I also brought along a Bulgarain Makarov. We went to the gravel pit on my father in laws property and we talked about the rules of firearms safety and he was very good with all of those rules. I showed him how to operate the AK and he he fired a few rounds through it. Which he liked, he also wanted to try my pistol because he said "it reminded him of James bonds pistol" He loved shooting the Makarov, I brought only 3 mags for it and he shot them all. He shot a pieces of plywood and a milk jug full of water which he emtied a magazine on. It was a slow introduction, I think he was still a little unsure about the AK asking me if it was legal, I think he wasn't completely comfortable with it. But he wants to shoot again. He also kept several empty shell casings for souveneers. He told me that when he gets finished with school he is going to buy a pistol.
So I guess I am doing a good job, I think he had alot of fun and I think next time he is going to have even more.
Take it easy everyone, It really feels good to take someone out who has never gone before.
