I finally got to take my 2 1/2" 66 to the range this morning. It's my first K frame snubby. It won't be my last. I ran 50 158 gr swc .38's, 50 125 gr 38+p's and 100 125 gr .357's through it. It's just so sweet loaded up with light .38's. Even .38+p's are totallty controlable in rapid fire. The 125 gr jhp .357's weren't to bad either. Accuracy is typical S&W, all shots grouped well and all stayed in the black mostly in the X ring. All shooting was done at 21 ft. It reminded me why i love K frame S&W's.

I think i'll polish the action up a bit, bob the hammer, convert it to DA only and maybe change the grips, although the factory combat grips (Uncel Mike's?) work pretty good.

Now if i can only find a 2 1/2" M19 at a reasonable price....

Not sure if they are doing it anymore. However, I had Pachmayer (sp) do a very nice "undercover" conversion to my 66. Sounds like it might be what you're looking into doing. A bud had a local guy do it and it wasn't so hot, wasn't reliable due to a light hammer and the back of the hammer always rusted since the guy had ruined the temper when he ground it.

I love the work Pachmayer did on mine and even after a decade plus it's mine carry gun of choice. Action smooth as silk. Highly recommend them.
