Top 3 Powder Choices for 6.5x55 and 243....

I know some powders and guns and bullets and brass and so on and so on like each other and some don't depending on what, how and who your shooting...

For those of you who reload the calibers above, what are your top 3 powder choices? List more or less depending on our numbers and preferences. Looking for powders to keep my eyes out for that I might not be able to find locally for some summer shooting experiments.

I use IMR 4381 for 140 gr bullets on 6.5

Never reloaded for a .243, but have for a 6.5x55. In general the 6.5x55 likes slower powders. You can get some overlap with the .243 using the 4350's and similar burn rate powders.

Hodgdon H4350 / Ramshot Hunter (tied)

IMR 4350/H4350/AA4350 in no particular order.

That about covers it.

In general the 6.5x55 likes slower powders.

+1. RL-22 and N160 are what I use.

RL-19 & 22, IMR 4831 for the 6.5. Although a wide range of med. slow to slow powders work well. And occasionally if you experiment you'll find a surprise...I did with a load of IMR 3031 and a 140 gr. bullet.

Don't have a 243 so N.R.

No 243 for me, 6.5x55 in order, DP-86, MRP, Hunter, 140gr Partitions.

4350 for 100 and 95 grainers and 4064 for lighter 85 grainers
