Top shot show on History

Yeah, George probably has the edge next week. I've heard that shooting the .50 isn't as hard as you'd think though, but I can't say that from experience.

Shooting a .50 is more or less the same as any other rifle as long as you can get over the gunblast. The challenge with shooting at 1,000 yds is reading wind and adjusting accordingly. This is where george will have the edge. (and having some experience with the M82 will help, which I assume he does)

I hope Jay shows up George with the 50 cal. George is going to look like a fool if he doesn't perform well this week with all the big talking he does.

Too bad Kelly from last season isn't there to school all the military guys with the Barrett. :)

Forget the talk George does, this next competition is a sniper competition through and through. He is a sniper. He damn well better win! I liken this to the pure pistol challenges earlier in the show. If the pure pistol shooters don't do well there, they have no business winning overall. If George can't win here, he should be eligible to win overall.

With that said I fully expect George to win assuming the challenge isn't something other then what I assume it to be. I'm also rooting for him, even though he is a cop!

The thing about Jay Lim is that he's a better shot shooting totally "wrong" than I am shooting totally "right."

So... who's really wrong?

So much of shooting is pure psychological and not just physical technique. Jay triumphs not because he has excellent technique but because he's very good at putting himself into a calm mental state of mind that helps him to win. He seems to have excellent mental focus and doesn't get flustered which is a huge asset in any competition environment.

for all the annoying behavior Jay has exhibited he's shown over and over that he is mentally tough and physically talented. Possibly the toughest and most talented person they've had on the show in either season. Nerves of steel, in either sense. Regardless of less than ideal technique his ability to make his body do what he thinks it should do under pressure is very impressive. Perhaps that native talent is the basis for why he doesn't take instruction to heart. BTW, he's an Olympic level archery competitor as well.

Have they said what kind of distance they'll be shooting the .50 at? Hope they don't play up some 100-200 yard scoped shot as some feat like I believe they've done the last season....

.50 cal at a grand

needless to say, I'm excited to watch :D :D

I can't wait for George to get the boot. He is just a jackass. Always talking about Jay and all Jay has done is prove himself time after time. If George isn't full of it then he should be a master on the Barret 50.

Well at least if he is going to talk smack he backed it up. He was impressive at 1000 yards. It doesn't change my opinion on him though. I can't believe how thoroughly Joe messed up with the Barret. He just wasn't comfortable at all with it. He sure burned up that 50BMG ammo.

Look at George running his mouth after Brian won. It was fastest to hit the target, not most accurate. Apparently his comprehension is a little slow. What a surprise. This show is quickly becoming a soap opera.

Gotta say, this whole idea of nomination after going to individual competition has just pushed the show a little too far into the "The Real World" realm. Getting less interesting.

Please tell me what the purpose of having individual challenges is if they are just going to send anyone who they want to elimination?

Also George seems to be a whiner "he shot the target faster than I did, but I did it in one shot, so my shot was better"

Um...apparently you don't take directions very well, the clear purpose of the challenge was to shoot it fastest. You failed.

Top Shot will now be known as survivor. One guy gets immunity for something he did. And they vote for 2 people of which one will leave. Total reality TV lameness. George and his attitude doesn't help. But not voting for the guy that did NOT hit the target was bogus. I'm done. Another gun show I won't bother watching. Tme to tweak the rules for season 3.
I hate when a good thing gets ruined.

I'm pretty sure they tweaked the rules specifically to have this popularity contest drama.

In my opinion, it neither makes it good TV, nor does it make it good competition. This is worse than the BCS system for college football

Well I think I'm officially done with Topshot. This show just became a popularity contest. Absolutely ridiculous. It should have been the two slowest times went to elimination. Jay got screwed by a bunch of guy's that were probably scared to go head to head with him.

yeah that's seriously lame. what they did was *NOT* individual competition, what they did was combine the teams... call it what it is. to say they survived to the individual portion was a lie. neither guy who ended up in elimination deserved to be there.

Even after how much he annoyed me.....Jay deserved to win more than a most of the guys that are left....

Some thought Jay would choke on the .50. He did not. As stated, he should not have been in the elimination challenge. I wondered why the guys kept shooting left after it was obvious that the wind was putting the bullet left. Every shooter after the first should have automatically compensated by aiming about 3-4ft. to the right...........it would have saved them some time. George is the only one that figured that out.

Anyone recall that show Weakest Link? They figured out it was best to vote the smartest person off so they can't beat you down the road. These guys did the same with Jay and Jamie. I'm not a fan of either guy but like a previous poster said, these guys did not want to face them.
