I'm laughing a bit at the shooters bringing up their military background so much in the show, implying that gives them a clear edge over the civilian shooters, etc. I guess they don't get out much. The amount of shooting any soldier, sailor, or Marine, etc, gets is quite dependent on what their job is, or how much they shoot on their own time, much like any civilian might be active as a shooter on his own dime. I can name about a hundred civilian shooters that have set records, shoot in competition, and regularly beat any number of the military's top shooters. While the military dominates most of the high power, formal rifle shooting at Camp Perry, etc, they are generally NOT the top combat competition or speed shooters. So, it is literally a crap shoot as to who would do better in a Top Shot competition, especially since competitors are chosen for diversity or personality over raw shooting experience or skill. It seems they all have some shooting skills, but how handsome, pretty, or interesting they are personality-wise plays into the producer's choices for contestants. Brag if you want to because you're military, police, etc, but I don't think it means much.
