General gun related topics & peeves....
I have a few things that irk me or push my buttons;
1) Gun owners or CCW holders who
name their carry guns or use them in a personal sense.
Do you
name your car? Do you
name your garden rake? Do you
name your flat screen TV?
2) Gun owners/new shooters who buy
low end/awful brands or cheap firearms then act like they are smart or "prepared".
A few weeks ago, I read a national media(NBC TV news) article about a special needs teacher in Utah who decided to learn about guns & get a new CCW. This young woman, a BA holder & certified educator buys a
Jennings nickel .22LR then
names it(because it was so "cute",
). These are the people walking around with loaded guns.
If I knew the young special ed teacher, Id quietly take her aside & explain how the guy who R&Ded the Jennings pistols is now a registered sex offender & felon(Bruce Lee Jennings). He was caught on child porn charges.
3) Gunners & gun forum "experts" who think everyone who uses open carry or wears a gun logo shirt/ball cap/5.11 vest is a
target or will be violently attacked at any moment.
Look, just cause your "
switched on" and see a 5.11 logo or LaRue Tactical bottle opener doesn't mean that Bumpy Johnson with a 15 page rap sheet will know or
care about that either. Just wearing milspec gear or patriotic shirts/hats doesn't mean you claim to be a SEAL or tier one operator.
Many armed professionals or CCW holders/target shooters use patches/stickers/logos/clothing. It's trendy but
harmless.
If you think I'm concerned with a "follow home" robbery or attack because of a NRA ball cap or a Glock T shirt, I'm not. If I were robbed there'd be a good chance Bumpy will see more than a logo or cap.
4) I agree with the magazine vs clip dispute. It's a term. Some people use slang or they hear a phrase & it's common. I wouldn't get to upset over it. NRA web personality & gun owner: "Colin Noir" gets uptight over the phrases but I'm not that concerned.
5) I could keep going, but I'll end with a annoying one: the non gun owners or citizens without CCWs who say; "
You(the license holder/armed security/cop) can't do that here! The law in ___ says that's illegal/not allowed." You(the license holder/armed citizen) say; "We are in ___. You need to learn the laws or statues of
this state."
I go by the laws & ordinances of my area, I don't follow or care what gun laws in AZ/NY/MI/HI/Guam/American Somoa/etc are.
