I've added a couple more reviews to my website; I still have many to do.

I haven't seen many reviews online for either of these products. I recommend both of them and really anything from TOPS. Check them out for yourselves.

TOPS Calcutta Knife

Inner City Survival Pencil

I apologize for the less than great photos of the pencil. My upload manager kept degrading the quality.

the knife seems pretty neat.

I dunno about that pencil. Doesn't look like it'd write well, nor is it a really good spike from the looks of it. If I wanted a spike I'd probably carry an awl or something.

This is one of those things that looks like it would be a good idea. Real James Bond stuff. A swizzle stick would also do the job.

Lots of times when I mention knives some of the guns guys admonish me to "pick the better tool." Granted, but sometimes the best tool is to cut or puncture. And that brings me to this spike idea.

If these items are spring driven, chances are they follow the same automatic knife statutues that apply in you municipality. My personal feelings aside, if you're going to get busted anyway, get a nice toy.

Now, to many of you in the X-Box generation, you might not know this but Sicilian switchblades come in many shapes.

First is the "dagger" style, which looks like a traditional dagger with a 'fuller' running the entire length of the blade. If you're going to poke your opponent, get this style.

Then there's a flat blade style that you can actually sharpen. It is designed for daily use as a pocketknife while looking like a Sicilian knife. Most knowledgeable guys refer to this style as a "picnic knife" or as my Mother's generation knew it, "a cheese knife." This is my favorite style.

The last is the most useless. It's called a "bayonet style." The blade is thick, the "edge" is set at an extreme angle and sharpens poorly, and is only mezzo-mezzo for stabbing.

Get one with a blonde bone handle, every idiot buys a black one.

For under $10 you can get the a lead holder and a long nail and have the same thing as the "Inner City Survival Pencil". The only problem is that you have to walk around with what is going to be classified as a concealed weapon. The clever amongst us would put the nail in the lead holder and an inch of pencil lead in it for real use. Push the "cap" to extend the lead and just let the lead drop out and let the nail slide forward into position. Regardless, either option is cheaper than the Guardfathers.

The Tops looks like a nice knife.

BTW, nice website photoman12001 and thanks for putting the effort into the reviews.

I expanded on my review of the pencil. I posted it before I should have. I should also have stated that I recommend it with reservations. You can probably make one yourself and it's self defense applications would be limited in the real world. I just thought it was kinda neat.

I stand firmly behind my review of TOPS knives and that Culcatta model in particular. They are fine cutting tools. I wish they were sold in store fronts or gun shows though. I've never seen one in either. Though they are a little pricey for the average consumer; expensive to keep on hand. But you get want you pay for.

You've overgeneralized a bit. TOPS are sold in some storefronts and are sold at some gun shows. How do I know? Because I've sold them to brick and mortar gunshops and I've seen them at gun shows here in TN.
