Totally hypothetical question...

Assuming this is just about guns, and that my family, pets and important documents are all safe, I'm grabbing my pistol case (in which resides my S&W 469 and Hi Point .45) From the gun cabinet I'm grabbing my Arisaka Type 38, Mosin M-44, Mav 88 12 gauge and Savage 64 .22. The rest of it can burn, not much of a monetary loss, more much of a sentimental loss.

I would put out the fire. If that is not possible, I'd have my cell phone in my hand and be heading out the door. House fires spread REALLY fast. This is real life. Don't even think about going back in unless someone's life is in danger and you are willing to give yours.

Depending what state you live in you may not want to run out of the house with a bunch of guns in your arms....said with humor

Actually a very valid point. I don't recall the specifics but there have been incident(s) were the FA have responded to fires while the home owners were away. After putting out the fire and touring the rest of the house to ensure no smoldering remains fireman observed semi auto ASSAULT RIFLES (couldn't resist) and called the police who confiscated them.

People in airplanes often have little or no idea how quick and deadly the thick smoke from a few burning polyester seats Always is (or where the nearest exit is-If It is clear outside). One breath can incapacitate you. Imagine a tiny, tubular chemical factory on fire.

If houses are as bad, we must leave now. Good luck to you folks with burglar bars on the only useable exits-I would much rather risk a burglar than a wife or child trapped behind bars.

If guns are the only objects to be rescued, after the cats, the M-1 Garand, both "Jungle Carbines" and both Spanish FR8s.
