I got a Remington 870 Wingmaster Classic Trap last week, and it's a great gun. However today I had it jam up, and I couldn't clear it until I got home.

I was shooting some of my reloads, which are Fiocchi hulls, once fired. The gun loaded and fired properly, but when I went to pull the forearm back it wouldn't budge. I got fed up and just switched to my Browning autoloader to finish the round.

Got the gun home and slammed the butt on the ground several times and that freed it. I could see that the spent shell was stuck in the chamber, so I took the barrel off and it pushed out of the chamber gently. I didn't need to use hardly and force at all.

Upon inspection, it looks like the right side extractor claw ripped off some of the brass plating. There's a strip of brass that's been ripped from the steel head, probably from my whacking the gun against the ground to get the forearm to move.

Now my question is, what is the problem here?

1) Chamber needs polishing? I wouldn't expect that to be necessary on a Wingmaster, but I guess you never know.
2) Probably with the ammo? Is it because it was a reload, because Fiocchi hulls suck, or do some guns just have this happen?
3) Something wrong w/ the extractor claw?

I did not have another shell in the magazine tube, so it wasn't *that* problem. I did clean the chamber/barrel out before taking the gun out, I guess in theory a little cosmoline might still be in there, but I doubt it.

Any ideas?

I have had similar problems with an old M12 I have and reloads. I had not resized the brass because my 870 never needed it. The Winchester chamber must be just a little tighter than my Remington. In your case it is apparently the opposite. Just clean it again real good, there is a lot of gunk in a new gun. Try different shells and I think you will find all is good!:D
