I have a S&W 4043(.40 cal DAO) which I have tried but can`t get the hang of DAO, A guy at the range has a Glock 23(also .40) that he does not like and wants to trade for my smith. I have never owned a glock before, is this a fair trade? thanks

The trigger pull on the Glock BOTH cocks the striker to the rear and releases it so it can be called DA.
There is no way it can be called SA.
If it would be DA you could pull the trigger and release the striker w/o any slide movement. I.E. if you would have a misfire with a DA you could drop the hammer/striker again and again w/o cocking it manually.
