"pre-ban"?

Funky grips but seems to be a decent 1911.

please tell me it's worth $300-$400 cuz I'm dumping it pronto :scrutiny:

They are OK. Importation banned either by Papa Bush or Klinton, not sure. Hard to sell. I got one in trade and could not get $400 for it despite it being NIB condition. So I kept it. Shoots great.

I think a good Norc is among the best value in GI style 1911s. One thing to look at is the barrel lugs, as some guns had issues there.

My experience with them has been that they are reliable faithful clones to JMB design.

There is one in a local shop here listed for $400. $350-$450 seems to be the price I see them sell at.

They work fine. I think I paid $325 new for mine, when they were still imported. I would want more than that if I ever went to sell it, .45 Autos don't seem to depreciate.

It's more than decent...
Got mine for just under $400 otd many years ago, and got a good one. Most reliable 1911 I've owned (keep it in perspective of milspec tolerances) and accuracy is combat defensive appropriate. I've been offered $500 +/- multiple times from a couple friends, but no point in selling it, I couldn't replace it with any current one for the same money I'd trust as much.
The steel is ridiculously hard. I'll never wear it out or break it!

Good luck with your sale...

Here's some pics of mine. Dang nice pistol! (I put some SA grips I had laying around)

A former colleague of mine wrote an article appearing in Modern Gun February 1995 on "Nowlin's Norinco .45" in which they remarked at the high-quality and hardness of the steel used in the Norinco. With mostly drop-in parts, they built a fine carry comp pistol for under $1000 in 1995 dollars.

If I ran across one for $350-400 I'd have a hard time passing.

Canada still allows them and as I understand it they are the most popular Asian import 1911 at present. Don't recall what the NIB price is but I believe under $500. That's RIA/Springfield territory that would include a warranty but I think you'll do alright on your sale. Because of the ban (and Norinco's reputation) you've got ice water for sale in the desert.

I'd have kept the Norinco. I've not heard anything bad about them. In fact, I've heard they're excellent candidates for customization due to steel that's much higher-quality than normal 1911's. They're a great base for a custom build.

I have several custom 1911's and really didn't need another.

What I needed was cash to reimburse my gun fund after snagging a K-22.

Very hard steel. I can feel the difference in the weight/balance. I've read/seen some barrels fit poorly and it will mess up the lugs (slide steel much harder than barrel). Otherwise, a fine gun.
