Many years ago I bought one and liked it so much I planed on getting another. Then, no more allowed in and they dried up. I should have bought 3 or 4 of them.

You should have bought few when they cost <$300. It amazes me what older Chinese guns bring now.

They are still sold new in Canada. Funny thing is the prices are pretty low if I remember correctly.

Yeah I believe I saw that barrel overhang in the video.

Since that vid I've used some improper tools and a lack of gunsmith training to repair the feed ramp issue. A rough sharpening stone and a dremel may or may not have been utilized.

The good news is the gun seems to feed hollowpoints now. Keep an eye out on my channel (Pro2nd) for a video showing the gun enthusiastically consuming some Remington-UMC 230gr JHP.

I'm never letting go of this gun.

Cryin' shame we can't get them new anymore. Current price in the free state of Canada is 299.99.

I wouldn't call Canada such a "Free State" on gun rights.
Mucho restrictions to gun ownership up North.

Just put up a new video showing the Norinco in action. Put 19 hollowpoints through it in this session and seems good to go so far. The first time I shot it before I modified the feed ramp I only fired 8 JHPs and it jammed on the second round.

Just watched and it looked good. When you have time I'd like to see a pic of the "new" ramp w/ barrel. Good job.

I was under the impression that new Norincos weren't allowed to be imported and sold in the US anymore? Something about being Chinese-made weapons and importing outlawed a few years ago. Am I mistaken? Probably heard that on a 1911 forum once.
Yes and no.
They may no longer be imported into the US.
Any that were in the US prior to the import ban may still be sold/traded etc on the open market.

Here ya go. I used a rough grit sharpening stone to face back the overhanging lip at the bottom of the feed ramp. This left a vertical "wall", so I reshaped with a conical smooth grit dremel bit. I was careful to remove no material at the top of the feed ramp where it meets the inner chamber. I didn't want to take away any case support. I was probably lucky it worked out actually.

Now keep in mind I'm just a shooter who get's excited when I can reassemble a 1911 from a detailed strip.:D That looks fantastic. Wonder what the deal was with that overhang? You got it and it functions. Might need to hang the 'ol smith shingle out. Nice pair you have there. Thanks for the pics. I'm aware of the 1/32" deal. Whatcha reckon you got there, a spit greater than 1/64th?

It's probably under 1/32, haven't measured it though. But the gap on my Springfield looks similar so it's probably sufficient. I was scared of removing too much.

I expect the overhang was caused by a previous owner over-polishing the frame ramp to the point it undercut the barrel. Luckily it was repairable.
