So I am caught in a Trade Dilemma. I just recently bought a Colt HBAR and have loved it, yadda yadda. But I have ALWAYS, ALWAYS had my eye on one of those Springfield TRP Operators. Especially the one with a full length rail on the bottom.

And one just turned up on my local gun-trade website. I sent him an email and asked him if he would do a straight trade; my Colt for his Springfield. Don't get me wrong, I love the Colt. But I have wanted an Operator for ages.

His asking price was $1500, and I feel that with the price-gouging as of late that this is an almost equivalent trade (or is it?).

What would you guys (or gals) do? Please advise!

I haven't kept up with 1911s as much as I should have.

The full length railed Operators were (and may still be) quite rare.

Although trading a rifle for a handgun, or trading any weapon for a weapon of a completely different category is hard to make a good comparison.

Its not gouging, it's called business. Just like the stock market, when its high, sell high.

People are buying AR-15's at gun shows and not even haggling the price. It's just "I want that one", sometimes two or three.

Anyway, those operators are REALLY nice, and saying they shoot great just doesnt cut it. Fantastic pistols if you like the full size 1911's. I say go for it and enjoy, get what you want. We're only here for a little while, enjoy it :)

According to Springfield earlier this year, they plan on bringing back the full length railed Operator due to high demand I guess. I'd sit tight, keep your Colt rifle, and wait to buy the low capacity handgun later when it'll be cheaper as well as brand new.
