I have a kahr k9 that I traded awhile back for another gun that I had. I came out pretty good on the deal. The kahr came with seven mags with the deal. It has around 3000 rounds thru it now.

Now I have a chance to trade it in on a barely used glock 17. The glock comes with night sights installed. The party had to put it up forsale because of the family. It's going for $450.00 near my local gun shop. I know this is a good deal. Maybe had one session at the range.

I went down to local gun range and rented one, and it was very accurate for my needs. Much more than the kahr. The owner of the store said he would trade me for the kahr + 100.00 cash for the glock.

My only problem is that glocks are not too eye appealing to me. I think there very ugly guns, but they shoot great. They have very fat grips for my hands. Feels like a 2X4 in your hands.

Now the kahr is pretty! It feels good and shoots great but not as accurate as the glock. So I don't know. I hate to pass up a deal like this. What do you guys think about glocks here? I mean I am not using the kahr for carry anyway. It just sits in the house or to the range occasionally. My only interest in guns is for target shooting anyway and a little home protection.

The other thing that concerns me is that I have heard that the kahrs don't hold up that well with long sessions at the range. Would the glock last longer and be more maintenance free? With the kahr, you have to put a re-coil spring in every 3000 rounds. I know the springs are cheap, but 3000 rounds!
That's not a lot of ammo to rack up quick for target practice sessions.
Anyone?

Martin: Sounds like you simply are tired of the Kahr. Suggest you look at prices of your Kahr on GunsAmerica.com and decide what you want for yours. Then take it to a gun show, or put it up for sale on this forum as a FTF so you won't have to pay the high cost of shipping. $450 is a fair price for the Glock if you think thats what you want, but there are a zillion 9mm to choose from. Look around awhile.

I think your dealer is not being very kind to you. Kahrs tend to sell for higher prices than Glocks. If he's offering you $350 for the Kahr, plus another $100 from you, in exchange for the Glock, you can bet he'll price the Kahr at $550-$600. I'd try to get a better trade out of him, or sell the Kahr privately and use those funds to buy a Glock. You can get a new one for $450-$500, with night sights, if you shop around.

If the gun isn't for carry, than the most important thing is, other than reliability, how much fun you have shooting it. I don't think you're going to really like a gun that feels like a 2x4 in your hand. Glocks are good guns, but I have a feeling you'll tire of that grip if it feels that way now. My advice is to sell your Kahr and find a gun that is both accurate and comfortable. Then buy that one and report back here. There are tons of alternatives out there for that size and very few are bad, so do some experimenting.

U can get more for your gun thru a private sale - I have sold many guns myself to fund future gun purchases - You will ALWAYS loose on a gun trade.

I personally like the Glock 34, but a new Glock 17 w/o night sights is $499 here where I am at.
