I just purchased a BHP which is WAY MORE accurate than my CZ 85. So I have decided to trade it for a NIB Beretta 92. I have always liked the looks of the Beretta, but I was not thrilled when I was in the millitary and we switched from the 1911 to the 92. It was so long ago I forgot why I didn't like the Beretta and how it shot. What can I expect???? Do you think this is a wise move or trade to make??????

My CZ 85 is quite accurate and I much prefer the ergos on it compared to the Beretta. But I can appreciate your not being satisfied with a gun that doesn't shoot straight. It's my opinion though that, as a rule, CZs are pretty darn accurate out of the box.

vertec

I had a vertec, and some of the changes they made to the ergos, just did not work out. For a gun of this basic size and layout, I recomend the standard 92, or a sig 226.
The short version is that, while the vertec was very well made, The trigger guard is too large and the trigger travels too close to the body of the gun before it breaks.

You know, I have really enjoyed my 92fs'. The old gripes stemmed from locking blocks breaking in the test pistols....many called it a flaw, many blamed hot ammo and premature wear. In either case, I have 10,000+ rounds through two Berettas each and they're fine ;)
Now the Vertec you mention has a slightly diff't grip which may appeal to some & detract from others...me I prefer the traditional grip

The Vertecs aren't bad. I had one for a short while, decided that I wanted an Elite IA (wasn't out yet at the time IIRC) and 2 Berettas was already enough :)

Great Information

The reason why I like the Ver-Tec over the traditional 92FS is because with the straight grips it helps me grab it due to the fact that I have small hands.

I did not know about the trigger on the Ver-Tec over travel.

Is there any other differences between the standard 92FS and the Ver-Tec????

I really need to know so I don't make a huge $$$$$ mistake.

Too Big

The grip so SSSSSSSOOOOOOOOO thick on the grip it's like holding a 4X4 and that's why I was thinking of the Ver-Tec.

The CZ I hear are nice, but compared to the BHP I would have to say it's like comparing apples to water melons

I also have rather small hands and the Beretta Model 92F has never felt comfortable or ergonomically suitable to me. But the Vertec feels just right; sort of reminds me of the straight back housing on a Colt Gold Cup. I would definitely prefer it to the regular 92F design.
