traditions mountain rifle

    Does anyone have expericence with the traditions mountain rifle? I'm looking for my first flintlock and this gun is on sale for half (399) Thanks in advance for any info.

    It's reported to be the same gun as the Austin & Halleck Mountain Rifle except it has a different finish on the metal. The A&H Mountain Rifle was well know for being a fine shooter and some folks really preferred it over the Lyman Great Plains rifle.
    A&H went out of business and it's hard to imagine that the parts for these rifles originated from anywhere but from the same original manufacturer.
    However, the high MSRP of the Traditions version up until now seems to have kept sales low enough to where there really hasn't been any field reports about them. But the sale price is certainly low enough to encourage folks to take the plunge and buy it. :)
