I like the P22. It works well for the stated intention of this thread. I've seen some harsh reviews of it on this forum and others but I can only speak from my experience. Mine has been a great little gun. It fits in a tackle box (snake gun), side pocket of a backpack, vest pocket, lots of other handy places when you're enjoyin' the great outdoors. The ergonomics are especially pleasing; it is a good instinctive shooter.
I've never had a FTF...a guy at my gun store told me to check the magazine serial numbers. Apparently one of the causes of FTF was early magazines. The newer ones have an "A" suffix. At the time that I checked with Walther, they would replace an old magazine with the improved model. I also shoot only Stingers.
I have bigger guns, but not every nail needs a big hammer.

Depends on where and what for

Small game hunting close to home a 22, either Ruger single six or S&W M41. Large game hunting or deep woods away from home Dan Wesson 357 w/4" barrel or 44 mag Super Black Hawk 44 Mag w/7 1/2" barrel. Rare bear and wolf in my area and not so rare feral hogs in the 100 to 300+ range. Got caught standing face to face with a mountain lion in New Mexico once with just a H&R 22 revolver in my holster. Fortunately she didn't want to play, I was very grateful and never went into the desert again without my 357.
