Hopefully, you're not like me: since about October I've been going through the pangs of "training withdrawal."

Summer ended too quickly. Between weeks of work, there were the lazy fall weekends spent raking leaves, watching football games, then turkey day came, more games, then Christmas hams and presents and shoveling snow, then the bowl games, then a new year - and now the playoffs and more cold weather (at least in my area).

It's a claustrophobic time of year. :scrutiny: But if you are like me, you're already thinking about where you'll be doing some serious training this spring or summer after the thaw.

So to help, ahh,... "break the ice," below is a link to my review of Tactical Defense Institute's Tactical Rifle I course.

This review was written in some detail for the benefit of the person who owns an AR, but hasn't yet attended a tactical training school. This person may want such training, but simply hasn't prioritized it into their personal or professional schedule. It may also be helpful to those who've already taken such a course but are interested in what other options exist for continuing skill development.

For the training gurus, "high speed" operators, and people who've attended so many tactical rifle schools that they've earned a "tactical black belt," there's probably nothing described in the review that you haven't already experienced. Still, you can always scroll right to the pictures. ;) There's also a postscript on the gear I used with comments on what I found helpful.

TDI's Tac Rifle I is an excellent 3-day course for developing a basic skill set in handling, shooting and fighting with the AR-pattern rifle or carbine. It's also a good course for the more experienced shooters seeking to maintain established skills by refreshing their marksmanship and tactical decision-making in the various drills and shooting scenarios. Just my opinion, as always.
