does anyone know anything about the H&R trapdoor carbines?? Anything???

I friend just picked up one of the Officers models and I got to go out and test fire it with him. It looked good, fit and finish was decent, it functioned flawlessly but then it was new and we only fired 20 rounds of BP loads. The only bad thing that cropped up in our short time with it was the rear sight adjustments, they left a lot to be desired. When you loosened it up to adjust elevation it became totally loose and you had to be extremely careful not to throw the windage out of adjustment, also there were no graduations on the sight to use as reference markers at different ranges. He has ordered a Pedersoli tang sight to replace the poor stock sight that we will be attaching this weekend.

They were never up to the quality of a real Springfield Trapdoor in metal, fit, or finish.
Some of them broke.
There are no parts available anymore.

I have a officers model the 100 year anniversary model, fit and finish are just fine, shoots great. I understand there were problems with the early ones in the hinge or latch system but that has been fixed the later ines are fine. Pendersoli bought the tooling and makes them now.
