I was wondering how often (if ever) one does a complete disassembly of their TD to clean it. I did an initial complete disassembly and cleaning when I acquired it. I have now shot about 500 rounds through it since then using BP mostly. Should I do a complete clean again?

Take the lock off and see what it looks like. I had an original 1884 carbine for about five years. I didn't use bp exclusively but I used quite a bit. I took the lock off of mine twice. Once to replace the mainspring when I first got it and once to check and see what it it looked like after using Pyrodex. I never took the barrel out of the stock.

I would say yes. Clean it and lube it with something really long lasting so you never have to disassemble again for 500 rounds.
I have two of the long ones. The non firing one has problems as seen here.
One side of the lock comes off with minimal fuss and the other come completely out of the stock. I told myself to remember, never take the fussy side out.

The other one has 1 box of commercial ammo through it, all OK. However, I experienced a few pierced primers.
I have no idea what happened to the broken one.

You can probably get a new tumbler and sear from Dixie Gun Works and put that rifle back in operation.

Chief, I've always wondered if my trapdoor broke from being un-maintained, or dropped in Cuba.
The local unit where it and many of it's brothers were stored was deployed for the Spanish American War in 1898.
I can imagine yours needing much after a good clean and lube.
