I'm thinking about combining yote hunting and trapping. I lost a kid to yotes this week and want to get some payback (goat kid). I walked fence yesterday and found two places where they've dug under my fence. Due to the lay of the land and a holler with trees in it, I can't cover both spots with a rifle. I also have a road beyond the pasture that's traveled by yotes.
What I'm thinking is to set a trap at both spots where I know they have come under the fence and maybe a couple in the road too. The road needs some work; one side has a pretty bad wash, so all the critter traffic is concentrated to the other side. I could set up a couple hundred yds away and out of sight of the traps at the fence. Hay bale 'blind' with a rifle and caller. I know of the two spots, but they could come from anywhere and could miss the trap. They can't see my location (location of caller), so if they decide to 'hang up', maybe they'll be hung up in a #2 coil.
What do you think?
