Howdy all,
I'm looking to getting an AKM rifle. what i wind up choosing is not the matter I wanna discuss. I have scoured the internet, and, despite the fact that I lvoe all AKs, even the disformed half children(haha), theres a certain look that I just feel.. matches me.
I've looked at Underfolders, but decided against them due to comfort, and difficulty getting a good sight picture. I've considered ACE folding stocks, but, it just didn't seem to be me. Wire stocks and Tapco furniture are out of the question(again, the look is not me.. plus, it just looks trashy).
So.. I looked into AKS74 furniture, and found that stock you just fall in love with at first sight. Triangle stocks...
So, the next question was, how do I get THAT onto an AK47 rifle.
well, KVAR sells a triangle stock specifically for AKM's, for 160(actually, 275) bucks.
The trouble is that.. well, besides the price.. compare these two pictures:

the KVAR stock. Notice the extra length, as compared to this:

obviously, One can't just drop in a 74' stock into an AKM receiver.
I have heard that you can replace/modify the rear trunion, but that should be done by a smith.
I would like to know the process of getting the AKS74 triangle folding stock on an AKM rifle.
links to instructions would be good too. Also, an estimate at the costs.. and a list of parts.
Thank you. I've lurked for a while, and now that I've come up with a dilema that I can't find an answer too.. I do hope that The High Road and those here can point me on the right path.
=)
