Tricking out my SPS Tactical

OK, took the rifle to the range today with another selection of ammunition. I know that I intended to take only one load, but with all of the new equipment, I wanted to run it through it's paces with a selection. I used Varget and Reloader 15 for powders. I ran 150, 155 and 168gr SMKs and 155 (or was it 150?) and 168gr A-Max bullets.

This rifle shoots like a whole different animal. It was raining so I wasn't able to retrieve any of my targets and didn't have a camera, but all groups ranged from about .4" to just under 1". It shot everything at least well, so I'm happy with the setup, although this rig seemed to have a preference for Varget powder. Maybe it's due to the relatively short length of my barrel and the fact that Varget is (I believe) a bit faster than RL15.

What I really have to comment on is the Wyatt's detachable magazine kit. In spite of my initial comments, the kit performed flawlessly. The rifle fed more smoothly from the Wyatt's than it did from the stock fixed magazine. Although loading the magazine were kind of a PITA, like many other things, there's just a knack to it. After having gotten used to it, I found it quite convenient. I suppose that, for the money, it's a pretty neat system. I'm going to keep it for now, although I do want to try the Badger setup at some point, it isn't a pressing issue for me now.

.4-1 shows some great potential. for what it's worth, I had a bad day today and shot from a .7-1. frustrating knowing that the usual is a .5.

I've found that while consistency=accuracy, my 700 isn't partiularly finicky about ammo selection either, shoots well with just about anything I've reloaded. obviously some are better than others.
