Hello, Gander was out of goex 3f so out of desperation i decided to spring for the $22.00 and buy a pound of pyrodex P, and to my surprise it shot as accurate as goex, using my 44caliber 1851 civilian [25g volume, cornmeal, .454 ball], and further more it is very clean, just one pass with a patch and a dab of bore butter and the barrel was like new again, also my hands were not as dirty, after this pound is gone i will buy another and see how it works in my remmies pghrich

Pretty cool how much cleaner that is huh Rich ?
I loaded some .45 LC for my Vequero and dang was that nice cleanin' a modern day smoke wagon with jist a warm water wet patch.:D

Down side: not enough smoke :(

I was given 2 lbs of P and 1 of RS, and I've bought some 3F 777. I've been feeling the need to buy some 3 or even 4F BP to try in the Old Army (Ruger states it can handle any granulation of BP).

Kinda want to see what I'm missing out on. A big mess? :scrutiny:

Pyrodex smells similar to firecracker smoke to me. How does BP smell?

Black powder reminds me of the good old days when the steel mills in southside were going strong, kinda like money, pghrich

Yeah, but visibility is better with black powder lol

"south side" ?
Why shame on you Richard.
Are you some kind of transplant ?
It's "souside".

I use a couple pounds of pyro P and RS a year and love it. I've used others but have always come back to pyrodex. I was born in Pittsburgh and I too remember smell of the mills and days of red skies over the city. Now I live in colorado and have to drive 70 miles south to Pueblo Co to a very small steel mill to smell it. The other one I miss from back in the day is the smell of sulfer from all the diesel trucks.

"red skies" ?
Ahh mitchz , our skies were allways black !! With a hint of grey brown. lol
Ahhh, maybe yer thinkin o' the red night skies from the slag dumps near the clover leaf. That would explain the "sulpher " smell too.;)

Hello, i can remember back in the 50,s when in school back arlington the girls wearing a white dress, inthe morning 'white', at the end of the day 'grey' rich

I used to use pyrodex and it was less fouling than real black, but I have found it to be more corrosive than real black. I use nothing now but 777.
