I picked up a 1981-vintage Ruger 44 carbine at a gunshow this weekend. One question to all you veteran Ruger carbine owners: The trigger acts more like a military trigger than any civilian firearm I've owned. It's like a 2-stage; you take up the slack, then there's a little creep, and bam. It this typical? Can it be improved with a trigger job? Thanks.

I don't believe I would mess with it any further then cleaning and some Gun-Slick graphite or moly grease.

If you screw something up working on it, repair parts are going to be few & far between!
