I have a friend living in a NY county (Westchester NY) that requires trigger locks for all guns inside the home. Apparently, this law is designed to avoid accidental shootings when the guns are not in the immediate possession of the owners.
Anyway, he travelled to a NYS owned county rifle range recently and many but not all shooters were using the locks when their long guns were being carried in cars from their homes to this range and back.
Question: Is there any actual or implied requirement to use trigger locks for transport of long guns to and from rifle ranges in Westchester NY? The cops seem to swarm the area close to the range and they pull over lots of cars.
